Job description

About Marker Learning:

Marker Learning is on a mission to help schools and parents access more affordable and accessible learning disability (e.g., dyslexia) assessments. 1 in 5 students has a learning disability such as dyslexia, which makes it harder for them to read, spell, and write–despite their intelligence. While receiving a proper evaluation for a learning disability could be the most impactful event in a student’s life, it is estimated that only 4% of students receive a diagnosis because of the high costs of evaluations and lack of access to qualified psychologists. Undiagnosed students are 3x more likely to drop out of high school, 5x more likely to be unemployed, and tend to experience elevated levels of anxiety and depression.

By leveraging proprietary technology developed by leading experts, the end-to-end Marker evaluation is completed in a fraction of the time compared to traditional assessment methods. Marker is a rapidly growing start-up backed by some of the most mission-driven and reputable venture capital firms and education non-profits.

Join us in our mission to inspire and support all students on their unique learning paths!

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to lead UX design across Marker Learning’s full SaaS platform. You’ll be at the forefront of simplifying and elevating end-to-end workflows for school psychologists, administrators, and district leaders—expert users performing sensitive, high-stakes evaluations. You’ll work on everything from report authoring and AI-driven tools to admin dashboards and compliance workflows.

As a senior IC, you’ll lead complex, cross-functional projects while remaining deeply hands-on with design and discovery. You will play a critical role in extending and evolving our design system, ensuring we scale consistently as we expand and deepen our product. Experience with AI-enhanced tools is a strong plus, as AI is deeply embedded in our roadmap.

This role reports to the VP of Product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end design for major initiatives across the entire SaaS platform, from research through delivery
  • Lead user research, customer interviews, and usability testing to inform product strategy and design direction
  • Drive JTBD (Jobs to Be Done) discovery to align product development with core user needs
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Clinical, and AI teams to deliver intuitive, high-utility workflows for expert users
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished high-fidelity designs using Figma and V0 (or equivalent),  ensuring high-fidelity prototyping and rapid iteration
  • Build on and enhance Marker’s existing design system to support scalable, cohesive product development
  • Champion accessibility and usability best practices throughout complex SaaS environments
  • Present designs to leadership and stakeholders articulating rationale and design decisions against the company’s strategy
  • Effectively communicate design rationale and advocate for user needs with executive and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Contribute to a user-centered design culture through informal mentorship and thought partnership
  • Be a thought partner to challenge the status quo and deliver experiences that exceed user expectations while advancing product innovation”

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in UX/Product Design, with leadership of complex, cross-functional projects
  • Strong expertise in UX strategy, user research, discovery methodologies, and jobs-to-be-done frameworks
  • Proven experience designing SaaS applications, especially with complex workflows or expert/professional user bases
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and storytelling skills to influence decisions across teams
  • Deep proficiency with modern design tools and design system management (Figma preferred)
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong UX process, strategic thinking, and polished design execution
  • Experience collaborating closely with AI/ML teams to integrate AI tools into user workflows is a strong plus

Bonus:

  • Experience in education, healthcare, or regulated industries
  • Familiarity with prompt design, conversational AI, or human-in-the-loop systems
  • Prior work on multi-user collaboration features or complex admin interfaces
