Thesis Design System @ PandaDoc

Thesis is PandaDoc’s design system. Thesis is a tool aiming at building high-quality and consistent user experience for PandaDoc users utilizing reusable styles and components according to specific standards. Thesis stands on three pillars:

  • Development: In UIkit you can review our react components, get familiar with their properties and read the development documentation.
  • Design: We store foundation styles and design of our components in Figma library.
  • Documentation: thesis.pandadoc.com. Documentation is the place where you can read about our visual language, style foundation, rules of components usage.

Role responsibilities

  • System Thinking & Execution: Own and evolve core foundations of the design system — from tokens and components to patterns and guidelines. Ensure the system scales across platforms while supporting product usability, performance, and visual consistency.
  • Design Process: Independently lead the end-to-end process of designing, documenting, and validating reusable components and patterns. Balance user needs, design quality, and technical feasibility to deliver robust system solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with designers, engineers, and PMs across tracks to ensure system adoption and alignment. Facilitate smooth integration of components into product experiences, and help teams design within system constraints.
  • Contribution & Governance: Identify and resolve inconsistencies in existing components. Improve the contribution process by setting clear standards, reviewing proposals, and ensuring cohesive evolution of the system.
  • Documentation & Tooling: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation that enables efficient use and contribution. Design assets, guidelines, and usage examples that empower both designers and developers.
  • Advocacy: Champion design system best practices and drive awareness of its value across the organization. Promote system thinking and help elevate the quality and consistency of our product ecosystem.
  • Accessibility & Quality: Embed accessibility, usability, and responsiveness into the system’s foundations. Regularly audit and refine patterns to meet compliance standards and deliver inclusive experiences.

Your core competencies

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience with a focus on design systems, UI frameworks, interaction design, and visual consistency across complex product ecosystems.
  • System Expertise: Deep understanding of atomic design principles, modular design, and scalable UI architecture. Strong grasp of typography, color theory, accessibility standards (WCAG), and responsive design. Bonus points for experience working on products involving document creation, workflows, or lifecycle management.
  • Technical Fluency: Proficiency in Figma (including variables, tokens, and libraries), with working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JS). Experience collaborating with engineers on implementation details, including design tokens, component APIs, and handoff.
  • Tooling & Documentation: Experience creating clear and maintainable design documentation that enables scalable use and contribution. Familiarity with design tokens, versioning strategies, and design system tooling is a strong plus.
  • Research & Validation: Ability to validate system components through real use cases, audits, and usage metrics. Comfortable integrating user feedback, accessibility reviews, and implementation constraints into scalable pattern improvements.
  • Communication & Influence: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to align across design, product, and engineering. Able to clearly communicate design system rationale and educate teams on usage and contribution standards. B2+ English level required.
  • Problem-Solving: Systems-oriented thinker with a proactive approach to identifying inconsistencies, inefficiencies, and gaps in the system. Skilled at balancing flexibility with consistency and guiding others to do the same.

Our tech stack

  • Coda for our internal kitchen: processes, checklists, playbooks, etc.
  • Slack and Zoom for communication
  • Miro for collaboration
  • Zeroheight for design documentation
  • Amplitude, Uservoice, Rally and more for listening our users

  • 6 self-care days
