Websites and our CMS are the core of Squarespace. The mission of the Experience team is to modernize and evolve Squarespace’s primary product offering, our Website builder and CMS. You’ll help develop systems and frameworks that empower both internal teams and external customers to build features on top of the Website builder in a secure and self-service manner. This role requires a strong focus on backend technologies to create scalable, maintainable systems and solve challenges in system architecture, performance, and data management, all while contributing to reducing technical debt. This is a hybrid role working from our Dublin office 3 days per week. You will report to the Engineering Team Manager of the Experience Team.
You’ll Get To…
- Code: Contribute to projects that require technical expertise, solving engineering challenges with effective and innovative solutions.
- Write: Help shape and implement technical strategies for our website product and platform, ensuring quality in both code and system architecture.
- Plan: Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and roadmap planning, aligning technical work with our goals.
- Implement: Break down tasks, enhance team efficiency through code reviews, and build scalable, high-performance systems.
- Collaborate: Work with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and effective technical solutions.
- Mentor: Offer guidance to junior engineers, supporting their growth and development.
Who We’re Looking For
- Have 3+ years of experience with Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Be well-versed in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Have experience building and maintaining large-scale software systems.
- Hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience.
- Have experience with databases such as MongoDB, SQL, PostgreSQL, and working with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Enjoy mentoring and collaborating with engineers of different skill levels to promote growth and success.
