THE ROLE
DEPT® is looking for a strong Senior SQL DBA Contractor with extensive experience withlegacy versions of the server and database; ideal candidates will have experience updating these tools. Initially, the project is slated to last 6 months, with a likely extension.
Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for designing database structures, writing scripts for database operations, monitoring database health, and troubleshooting issues. This particular role will focus on:
- INVESTIGATION: Writing and analyzing queries, needs deep understanding of query estimates and indexing
- MANAGEMENT: Handling clustering, SQL versioning, and configuration
- Emphasis is on management experience but skillset in investigation would be great addition
Key Responsibilities:
- Performance Optimization: monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: troubleshoot issues, resolve errors, and maintain overall health
- Data Security: protect sensitive information, including access controls, encryption, and audits
- Database Design and Implementation
Skills Required:
- Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of SQL Server
Server database design principles, data modeling
Scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python).
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Role will be highly investigative, focused on troubleshooting
Communication and Collaboration Skills: Team will be split across units, region, etc.
Would be helpful: Knowledge of older versions of SQL server ex: 2017 and upgrading to 2019 or 22’

The anticipated Hourly range for this position is $59 - $85 hourly. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we’re flexible. Likely 6 months with potential to extend.
