Job description
Intro
MO helps government leaders achieve their mission by designing intuitive and sustainable customer experiences that build trust and improve satisfaction. We use human-centered design to modernize and transform customer and employee experiences. We’re a small team of interdisciplinary creatives with mission, impact, and service to others deeply rooted in our DNA. We’re naive enough to believe we can change the world and bold enough to take the chance to do it.
We combine design thinking with agile delivery methods to drive visionary, human-centered products to market. Our custom solutions range in size from completely revamping an entire application to refreshing small pieces of a larger product. Everyone at MO directly impacts the direction and success of the company, and we own our roles. We value integrity, curiosity, courage, and excellence, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration while continuously challenging each other to grow and improve. At MO, we delight in creating products and experiences that improve lives.
Overview
Are you looking to make an impact? We’re looking for a Staff Product Manager to lead delivery and drive team alignment on a high-impact, public-facing product for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this position, you will be leading a multidisciplinary delivery team of engineering, design, and support experts to develop secure, performant, and reliable user-centered experiences for content and product teams to meet the needs of Veterans. If you’re a seasoned product leader with exceptional government delivery, team leadership, and stakeholder management skills who is passionate about making a difference for the public, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and maintain strong relationships within and across the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Partner with executive-level government stakeholders to translate business, technical, and user needs into an effective and compelling product strategy
- Lead a multidisciplinary team to consistently deliver software and design improvements for VA.gov editors and users.
- Drive evidence-based prioritization, decision-making, and attention to detail across the team
- Balance opportunities and constraints across business, technical architecture, and end-user needs
- Effectively document features, epics, and user stories.
- Set success metrics and measure quantitative and qualitative impact of product improvements on an ongoing basis
- Run efficient and effective team ceremonies, including sprint planning, product demos, and retrospectives
- Partner with MO’s growth team to proactively identify opportunities to scale impact based on exceptional delivery.
- Engage peers throughout the government ecosystem to proactively collaborate and problem solve
- Support, mentor, and manage other MO product managers to reach their full potential
What We’re Looking For
- Leadership
- 7+ years of combined public and private sector leadership experience managing complex technology modernization projects with confidence and clarity
- Exceptional stakeholder management and team leadership skills
- Comfortable making difficult prioritization calls and aligning numerous stakeholders across engineering, design, and business operations
- A mission-driven, scrappy team leader capable of rolling up their sleeves and “getting it done” for Veterans and our government partners effectively and efficiently while maintaining strong relationships
- Ownership & Initiative
- Naturally proactive: anticipates challenges before they arise and brings creative solutions to the table
- Self-starter able to operate independently with minimal oversight, while staying laser-focused on delivering value to the public and our government partners consistently
- Collaboration & Communication
- Works fluidly with cross-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders in a highly collaborative environment
- Strong communicator: able to assert ideas with clarity and diplomacy. Equally comfortable asking for help or surfacing risks early
- Technical Fluency
- Technical background (e.g., Computer Science degree, engineering experience, and/or product work in technical domains)
- Comfortable working closely with engineers to shape implementation details, coordinate releases, manage technical trade-offs, and understand system architecture
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience working in or with government agencies, especially the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Experience working with or managing teams that build or scale Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Exposure to AI and machine learning product development, including integration into user workflows or internal operations
What Isn’t Required
- Specific Educational Background: Your qualifications matter more than where (or if) you went to school.
- Open Source Contributions: We’re interested in your skills and experience, even if you haven’t shared them on GitHub.
- Big-Name Employers: It’s not about having a well-known company on your resume; it’s about what you’ve accomplished.

- A fun, dynamic working environment with an energetic and diverse team
- A REMOTE first work environment
- An inclusive culture where everyone is welcome
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
- Opportunities for career growth
- Full health benefits (medical, dental, vision)
