Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company (‘Versant’) comprised of most of NBCUniversal’s cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

Project Keystone will be a multi-year endeavor, driving NBCUniversal’s transformation goal of building a globally standardized, flexible, and data-driven business platform that enables NBCU to make better and faster decisions based on real time insights.

Our product and engineering teams will drive transformation of key Finance processes across Record-to-Report (RTR), Procure-to-Pay (PTP), Order-to-Cash (OTC), Treasury, Tax and FP&A. In additional, our engineering teams will play a key role in cross-functional workstreams like Transformation Management Office (TMO), master data governance, reporting, security, risk and controls and change management.

As a Staff Software Engineer (SAP) in the Procure-to-Pay (PTP) area, we expect this person to participate in ABAP Build and Development activities to support the successful business adoption of the new solution. This role requires a strong understanding of Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay principles and proven experience on design and deliver high quality clean core solutions through technical development that meet overall business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project forecasting and planning sessions to ensure adequate resource levels are in place to meet the build demand
  • Take a lead role in maintaining and enforcing ABAP naming, coding and development standards, and providing design guidance to the functional teams keeping in mind SAP’s Clean Core Framework
  • Ensure onboarding of ABAP/Fiori project resources and bring them up to speed on NBCU development practices
  • Review Functional Specifications from the Functional and Product Teams and ensure they are complete and ready for technical design and development
  • Provide work effort estimates work with the workstream architects to update ADO/IDP tool for reporting out RICEFW status and dates
  • Suggest alternate technical designs in line with Clean Core best practices
  • Complete all relevant Technical specification documentation and support Functional teams during testing and bug-fixing
  • Design, develop, and manage complex technical projects in support of the business to improve or add functionality to the SAP landscape
  • Perform code reviews based on NBCU S/4 HANA coding standards
  • Work with the functional teams to support testing cycles like Functional Unit Test, Integration Testing and others
  • Be accountable for ensuring delivery schedule adherence and quality standards of deliverables
  • Partner with PMO teams to report our overall status and help publish burndown charts and report showstoppers, risks, etc.
  • Work closely with Product Teams, Change Management, Testing and other Engineering teams like BASIS and BTP Integration to identify opportunities for improvements or cost savings
  • Mentor and train Application development and other engineering team members to perform daily duties

Qualifications

  • Education focus degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline with an information technology focus, or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Experience as an Architect/Senior consultant with 6+ years SAP ABAP engineering (development) experience including 2+ years of Technical Architecture. Knowledge in various SAP modules and Integration development working on large-scale SAP S/4 transformations
  • Experience in transformation projects e.g., from SAP ECC to S/4 HANA (S/4 Conversions, green field, brown field, blue field etc.)
  • ECC Development Experience
    • Confirmed ability in using traditional ECC development practices and techniques using BADI’s, BAPI’s, LSMW, ALE, RFC calls, IDOC, BDC, business objects, classes and methods, Adobe Forms, SmartForms, SAPScripts, Data Dictionary, ALV
    • Strong ABAP debugging skills, performance monitoring and tracing and workflow experience
  • S/4 HANA Development Experience
    • Knowledge and awareness of SAP Clean Core principles including use of released API’s, in app extensibility options and key user extensibility
    • Knowledge of 3-Tier extensibility model and RAP (Restful ABAP Programming) and CAP (Cloud Application Programming) models
    • Experience in migrating custom code base from ECC or Suite-on-HANA (SoH) systems onto a S/4 HANA platform applying both technical remediation and Clean Core frameworks
    • Implementation knowledge on Native SQL, ADBC, External View, ABAP Core data Services, AMDP Procedures, Text Search, ALV on HANA.
    • Practical experience in creating custom and enhance standard CDS views and AMDP class based on business requirement and use of various available annotation in CDS views
    • Knowledge of OData services using CDS and AMDP, Workflow experience, including support and debugging
    • Knowledge on other new SAP technologies such as Fiori SAPUI5, SAP BTP Integration Suite

Desired Characteristics:

  • Confirmed ability to be flexible and agile, both independently and in a team
  • Relevant SAP technical certification a plus
  • Practical Knowledge of Code Performance Rules and Guidelines for SAP HANA
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess interpersonal skills to engage and collaborate in a team environment
