Summary
The job is for a Staff Backend Engineer at Sound who will lead technical direction, contribute as an individual contributor, architect new projects, design API layers, improve performance and reliability, and be involved in product decisions. The role requires 6+ years of experience writing production software and living between GMT-8 and GMT-5 timezones.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience writing production software
- Live between GMT-8 and GMT-5 (North American timezones)
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for the team and help guide engineering vision
- Lead the architecting of important systems and anticipate strategic and scaling-related challenges
- Design, build, and continually improve Sound's core backend infrastructure
- Develop a robust product-focused API layer used by front-end developers and eventually external developers building on top of Sound
- Act as a player-coach and champion code quality & developer experience
- Improve our real-time blockchain data pipelines
- Collaborate to improve continuous integration, deployment, logging, metrics, and visibility into service/site health
- Develop best practices for backend application development
- Mentor and train other engineers on the team
Preferred Qualifications
- Public contributions to open source projects
- Experience solving complex distributed systems problems
- Experience with Typescript & GraphQL
