Job Description

LGC is seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales Specialist to support and expand our Seraseq portfolio of reference materials across the United States. This role is ideal for a scientifically trained professional with a strong background in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) who is passionate about customer engagement, technical sales, and business development.

To excel in this role, the individual must proficiently carry out the following essential functions:

  • Prospecting & Business Development:
  • Identify and develop new sales opportunities within potential customer accounts.
  • Expand existing customer relationships by uncovering additional product needs and applications.
  • Drive sales growth through proactive outreach, including cold calls, emails, and virtual meetings.
  • Technical Sales & Customer Engagement:
  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to educate customers on the benefits of Seraseq reference materials.
  • Understand and address customer challenges related to assay validation, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide consultative sales support to help customers select appropriate reference materials for their specific applications..
  • Account Management & Support:
  • Maintain strong customer relationships to ensure high retention and satisfaction.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including marketing and product management, to support customer needs.
  • Track and report sales activities, customer interactions, and market trends.
  • Evaluate market opportunities, conduct initial analysis of market opportunities to include return on investment, Service offerings, new markets.
  • Industry and Product Knowledge: Cultivate and maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, client operations, and competitive offerings to effectively position LGC Diagnostics & Genomics products. Effectively represent LGC in various market-facing roles.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Demonstrate flexibility and collaboration in responding to the business needs – both internal and external – by addressing significant corporate initiatives as requested by management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a biological field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry); Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 2-5 years hands-on experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and related molecular biology techniques.
  • Prior experience in technical sales, account management, or customer-facing scientific support is a plus.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to a broad audience.
  • Strong computer skills required, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work remotely and prioritize effectively.
