Job description

Planned Parenthood of New York City is seeking a TeleHealth Advanced Practice Clinician to join our Clinical Services team.

What the TeleHealth Advanced Practice Clinician does:

  • Through an innovative care model, our TeleHealth Advanced Practice Clinician (THS) will provide select health services to patients remotely either via messaging (asynchronous care) or via video conference (synchronous) within the PP Direct mobile app, expanding access to care outside of areas served by our traditional bricks-and-mortar health center locations
  • Evaluates, assesses, and treats reproductive health concerns specific to birth control pills and UTIs
  • Assists in ensuring the highest quality patient care in compliance with medical standards and guidelines and PPNYC protocols
  • Initiates and manages the client’s chosen oral contraceptive method
  • Evaluates and treats Urinary tract infections (UTI) conditions
  • Provides relevant health instruction including family planning, HIV counseling, sexual health counseling, and principles of health promotion and maintenance
  • Refers clients to local Planned Parenthood affiliate for other types of birth control methods (ring, patch, LARC) and treatment of other reproductive health concerns which cannot be done via the PP Direct mobile app
  • Collaborates with PPNYC clinicians as well as other THS team clinicians and other members of the health care team and makes referrals to medical and community resources as indicated
  • May support telehealth expansion of Medication Abortion Services which require the APC to be onsite at a PPNYC Article 28 facility.

We’re seeking candidates who have:

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a college or university OB/GYN Women’s Healthcare or Family Planning Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife Program
  • Certification through the appropriate licensing authority; Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives must be licensed to practice in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical work experience, preferably in reproductive health or similar setting
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, professionalism on camera, flexibility, and an interest in the rapidly-growing area of online care are required
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, high level of comfort with technology, web based applications and has experience with EHR (Electronic Health Records)
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus but not required

$141,775.53 - $141,775.53 a year

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season and Covid-19) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
