About the team:

The Foundation team is responsible for the essential experiences that make Goodnotes great. From toolbars and navigation to cross platform consistency and performance, this team owns many of the most used and most visible features in the app.

You will join a highly collaborative group of designers and product thinkers working asynchronously across Asia and Europe. You are welcome to work remotely from anywhere, as long as you have at least four hours of overlap with your closest collaborators. You can also join us in our Hong Kong or London offices. Our async first culture means your time zone will not impact your ability to do great work.

About the role:

We are looking for a skilled and curious UX Researcher to join our Foundation team. In this role, you will lead research that informs the design of core experiences used by millions of users across iOS, Android, Windows, and Web platforms. Your insights will directly shape the evolution of note taking, navigation, and editing tools in a high impact product environment.

You will collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to bring structure and clarity to both strategic questions and tactical feature decisions. You will design and execute studies that help us deeply understand user needs and ensure we deliver thoughtful, usable, and elegant experiences across platforms.

This is an excellent opportunity to influence the foundation of a beloved app and work at the center of multi platform product development.

This is the role for you, if you’re excited to work on the things listed below:

  • Design and run foundational and evaluative research studies that shape core product experiences
  • Work across iOS, Web, Android, and Windows to improve multi platform and multi device experience
  • Collaborate with designers, researchers, PMs, and engineers to bring clarity and structure to decisions
  • Deliver high quality research insights that directly influence product direction
  • Uncover unmet user needs and identify areas for product improvement
  • Help the team move from intuition led to insight led decision makin

The skills you will need to be successful in the above:

  • 3-4+ of in house UX research experience
  • Experience leading end to end research studies independently
  • A strong portfolio showing how your work has influenced product design
  • Experience working cross functionally with product and design
  • Excellent communication skills in both writing and speaking
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and suggest the right research methods for the task
  • Comfort with qualitative and light quantitative research
  • Ability to connect the business and product metrics to the research approach for sharper recommendations

What else would help you, but is not required

  • Experience with productivity tools or multi platform apps
  • Familiarity with tools like User Testing, Maze, Useberry, Optimal Workshop, or Amplitude
  • Experience with behavioral analytics and product led growth
  • Some knowledge of unmoderated testing and remote-first workflows

Even if you don’t meet all the criteria listed above, we would still love to hear from you! Goodnotes places a lot of value on learning and development and will support your growth if needed.

The interview process:

  • An introductory call with our talent acquisition team
  • A one hour interview and portfolio walkthrough with the hiring manager
  • A one hour portfolio presentation with designers, researchers and cross functional partners
  • A 30 minute AI literacy interview with one of our AI Champions

What’s in it for you:

  • Budget for things like noise cancelling headphones, setting up your home office, personal development, professional training, and health & wellness
  • Sponsored visits to our Hong Kong or London office every 2 years
  • Company wide annual offsite
  • Flexible working hours and location
  • Medical insurance for you and your dependents

Note: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks, including verification of employment, education, and criminal records.
