Job Description

About Us

Scrambly is one of the fastest-growing adtech startups in the world, featured in the AppsFlyer Performance Index and Singular ROI Index in just 3.5 years.

We’re growing 250%+ YoY across revenue, team, product, and technology — fully bootstrapped and profitable.

We’re building the future of app discovery: a reward-powered alternative to the App Store and Google Play. Our loyalty-driven ecosystem connects millions of users with the world’s top apps and delivers unmatched, ROI-focused growth for mobile advertisers.

Our mission is to build a true alternative to traditional app stores — fueled by rewards and data — and create a new, performance-first growth engine for mobile app advertisers.

About the Role

We are looking for a strong Senior Automation QA Engineer to take full ownership of automation quality at Scrambly — a high-traffic B2C platform serving millions of users across web and mobile (iOS & Android).

You will define and drive the automation quality strategy, expand mobile coverage to iOS, and be the person who prevents issues from reaching production — not the one who finds them after the fact.

Quality at Scrambly directly impacts revenue, retention, and user trust. You will be expected to challenge requirements early, identify risks before they become incidents, and work closely with the manual QA team and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership & Strategy
    • Take full ownership of the existing E2E automation framework (Playwright + WebdriverIO/Appium) from day one
    • Define and drive the quality strategy across web and mobile platforms
    • Identify coverage gaps, prioritise test work, and align quality efforts with product releases
    • Be the voice of quality in planning — challenge requirements, surface edge cases, and push for testability
  • Mobile Automation
    • Own the Android mobile test suite (WebdriverIO + Appium + uiautomator2) — maintain, extend, and improve reliability
    • Expand iOS automation coverage, building on work already in progress
    • Ensure cross-platform parity across our iOS and Android apps
  • Web & API Automation
    • Maintain and extend the Playwright web test suite (Chromium + Mobile Safari)
    • Own API-level test coverage and webhook validation flows
    • Work with real QA/Stage environments backed by PostgreSQL, Redis, and Firebase
  • CI/CD & Infrastructure
    • Own the CI/CD pipelines for automated test runs (self-hosted runners and nightly scheduling)
    • Improve test reliability, parallelisation, and reporting (Playwright HTML + Allure)
    • Collaborate with DevOps on environment stability and infrastructure access
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to embed quality early in the development cycle
    • Translate product requirements into robust test coverage with a clear risk focus
    • Communicate clearly about automation coverage, gaps, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years in QA automation, with a focus on mobile automation
  • Mobile: Strong hands-on experience with Appium (Android). Proven experience or solid exposure to iOS automation (Appium on iOS or XCUITest)
  • Web: Proficiency with Playwright or a comparable modern E2E framework
  • Languages: TypeScript/JavaScript — you will be writing production-quality test code, not just scripts
  • API & Backend: Comfortable with API testing, direct database interaction (PostgreSQL), and working with auth flows (Firebase or similar)
  • CI/CD: Experience owning and maintaining GitHub Actions (or comparable) pipelines for automated test execution
  • Mindset: You think in terms of risk, not test cases. You join planning sessions, not just sprint reviews
  • English: Upper-Intermediate or higher (B2+). You’ll communicate directly with product and engineering in English

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing high-traffic consumer products (millions of active users)
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (GCP)
  • Experience with performance testing or load testing at scale
  • Prior experience as the sole AQA on a product; you know what it means to own quality end-to-end without a team
  • Background in fintech, gaming, or marketplace products where business logic complexity is high

What We Offer

  • Full ownership of automation quality on a platform used by millions of users — your work has immediate, measurable impact
  • A mature automation codebase to inherit and evolve, not build from scratch on day one
  • A fast-moving environment where quality improvements translate directly into user experience and revenue
  • A culture of technical rigour: code reviews, early involvement in feature design, and the expectation that your voice shapes how we build
  • Full-time & fully remote position
  • 15 days of paid vacation
  • 5 days of paid days off
  • 5 days of paid sick leave
  • Maternity/Paternity leave
  • National holidays based on your country of stay
