The American Marketing Association is looking for a Public Relations Intern for the Summer of 2026!

What to know about this role
- This is a ten (12) week, 20-hour per week internship from Monday, June 8th, 2026, to Friday, August 28th, 2026.
- The hourly rate for this position is: $18.00 per hour
- We are a fully remote organization with team members across the country. Work from the comfort of your home, a local coffee shop, or wherever in the U.S. brings you joy! Please note that you MUST live in one of the following states to be considered for this temporary role:

What you’ll be doing
- Research potential speaking opportunities (podcast, media, conferences, and events) for AMA’s CEO and other executive staff, and help draft submissions
- Research and build media lists, strengthen writing skills by writing releases, media advisories, and articles for the website based on podcast episodes and research (in conjunction with the Director of Research and Innovation)
- Work internally with the VP, Communications, to help broaden the work of the department by assisting in content curation for marketing, learning, and communities departments
- Assist in podcast production, script writing, episode editing, and guest outreach
What you bring to the table
Understanding of general public relations functions:
- Building media lists for outreach
- Drafting and editing releases and advisories as needed
- Drafting story pitches and ideas, such as journal articles that can lead to stories, events advisories, CEO speaking engagements, and interview opportunities
- Researching and drafting podcast pitches for CEO interviews
- Tracking media clips
Skills and abilities:
- Strong writing and research skills
- Enthusiasm for reading news and newsletters about marketing
- Interest in a communications-centric role (there is no direct social media work as part of this position, but there is an opportunity to help with information for the CEO’s posts)
- Some experience with medial relations or PR platforms (training for AMA’s platform will be provided, but some basic knowledge is good)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Experience working with Microsoft Office and Google Docs
What you may also have
- Basic knowledge of WordPress (a plus, but not needed)
What to expect from the interview process
- Hiring Manager resume review
- One-way video interview on Spark Hire (We promise this isn’t scary! Our questions are well thought out, and we wanted your answers to be as well. So you have unlimited think time for each of the six questions we ask!) that will take 15-25 minutes.
- 30-minute phone interview with a member of AMA’s People and Culture team
- Virtual Interview with the hiring manager and the role’s mentor that you’ll be working closely with.
