Job Description
Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX
As the Senior Application Engineer, you own the Arc’teryx brand-specific slice of the Workday integration fabric inside a shared tenant. You design, build, operate, and continuously harden every brand-owned connector, middleware flow, EIB, and custom Studio integration that moves people data between Workday and Arc’teryx downstream systems (retail WFM, local analytics, brand middleware, facilities, asset protection, etc.).
You will raise every cross-brand impact assessment, provide test evidence, and participate in monthly Integration & Architecture Review and quarterly HR Tech Operating Meetings.
This is a senior, hands-on role. You will mentor junior team members, enforce reusable patterns, drive the shift to event-driven/API-first within brand scope, and act as the primary technical escalation point for all Arc’teryx Workday integration incidents.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Meet Your Future Team
You will be part of a high-velocity Corporate Systems team working shoulder-to-shoulder with P&C business partners and the AMER implementation teams. You co-own the brand layer of the HCM roadmap, working shoulder-to-shoulder with P&C business partners and AMER Group implementation teams to own Workday integrations end-to-end.
You will co-design and deliver against the HCM roadmap, provide day-to-day support, and act as a trusted technical advisor to leadership. You will ensure our Workday-centric integration landscape scales to meet the needs of a growing, global organization.
We run with shared ownership across the business with a relentless focus on delivering integrations that make back-office complexity disappear and deliver effortless, impactful experiences for employees and leaders.
If you were the Senior Applications Engineer now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
Partnering closely with the Architecture & Technology team on enterprise standards and cross-domain patterns
Working side-by-side with the Senior Product Manager to design and deliver integrations that support the roadmap
Owning end-to-end of all brand-specific Workday integrations: design, build, test, deploy, monitor, and support
Leading technical delivery against the integration impact list and execute all brand-owned iLoads, EIB updates, and Studio work
Adhering and refining to the Defined Engagement Model, including single intake, impact assessments for shared-tenant changes, and quarterly ownership catalog updates
Performing root-cause analysis and fix “break-fix” tickets when brand data fails downstream
Defining and enforcing Arc’teryx-specific reusable patterns, canonical models, error handling, self-healing, and monitoring, and resilience standards
Conducting semi-annual regression testing of all brand integrations during Workday R1/R2 releases
Owning data connectivity of people data from P&C across internal systems and downstream vendors as approved and agreed upon
Participating in a shared on-call rotation across Arc’teryx and AMER Sports (shared support model; primary coverage during core business hours + escalation support outside core business hours)
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
Leading the shift to event-driven and API-first architecture across the corporate stack
Building self-service integration capabilities for the broader tech organization and continuing iterating on them as needed
Partnering closely with AMER Sports to co-develop and align integration support processes, runbooks, and SLAs tailored to Arc’teryx’s growing needs
Automating testing, deployment, and monitoring to reduce incident response time
Partnering on global and cross-functional projects that make our systems work seamlessly across regions and functions.
Mentoring and pairing with junior team members on complex Studio work and operational excellence
Are you our next Senior Application Engineer?
- You have 5+ years delivering and supporting enterprise-grade integrations in complex, multi-brand or shared-tenant environments (Workday experience strongly preferred).
- You are capable of performing root-cause analysis on “Break-Fix” tickets when data doesn’t land correctly in a downstream system
- You have deep expertise in Workday integration stack
- Expert-level Workday Studio (Eclipse-based) for high-volume, logic-heavy integrations with advanced error handling, retries, and Java-like processing.
- Advanced EIB configuration for high-speed bulk inbound/outbound (mass comp changes, employee loads, etc.).
- Core Connectors, calculated fields, and pre-built templates where appropriate.
- You have excellent communication and the ability to translate complex technical topics into relatable, simple points for non-technical partners
- You are capable of building robust error handling and monitoring, including self-healing mechanisms or proactive notifications for failed file deliveries
- You are capable of conducting semi-annual regression testing of all existing integrations during Workday major releases (R1 and R2) to prevent breakage from new features or API changes.
- You are capable of configuring Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) for high-speed inbound/outbound bulk integrations (e.g., mass compensation changes, employee data loads).
- You are capable of leveraging Core Connectors and pre-built templates for standard Workday-to-third-party connectivity.
- You are capable of creating calculated fields and business logic within Workday to support accurate data extraction for vendors.
- You are capable of developing complex, custom integrations in Workday Studio (Eclipse-based) when EIB or Connectors are insufficient for high-volume, logic-heavy scenarios requiring advanced error handling, retries, or Java-like processing.
- You are capable of managing Workday security fundamentals: Integration System Users (ISUs), Integration System Security Groups (ISSGs), and domain permissions.
- You are capable of working with core formats and protocols: XML/XSLT/XPath transformations, SOAP/REST/WWS APIs, CSV/Fixed Width/JSON file handling.
$94,000 - $130,000 a year
