About the role

We are seeking an experienced individual to lead on the planning & management of the acceptance & commissioning strategies. Working within the Client team, the Acceptance & Commissioning Manager (ACM) will work with (1) the Programme Commissioning Manger to lead the planning, initiation and development of the commissioning strategy for the Programme and (2) the Readiness & Acceptance Planner to ensure the DLoDs and performance statements are measured & met; ensuring a timely and efficient transition from current concept design into operational use.

During the design phases this role will ensure all systems and equipment are designed to meet operational, regulatory and customer requirements. The ACM will collaborate with the design teams, contractors and stakeholders to integrate commissioning requirements into the design ensuring a smooth transition into the construction and handover phases.

This role will initially be working independently to develop the acceptance & commissioning strategy at scheme design phase. As the Programme matures, the commissioning team will be expanded with the relevant SQEP members, under the management of the ACM who will retain responsibility for this aspect of the Programme.

Key Responsibilities โ€“ Acceptance & Commissioning

  • Proactively develop and lead Acceptance & Commissioning strategies aligned to programme objectives, governance, Asset and Safety Management arrangements โœ…

  • Ensure commissioning considerations are embedded across all delivery and governance activities ๐Ÿงญ

  • Work with design and engineering teams to influence early design, preventing future operational and commissioning issues ๐Ÿง 

  • Review design drawings, specifications and schedules to ensure systems are testable, maintainable and compliant ๐Ÿ“

  • Research, author and manage technical documentation supporting acceptance and commissioning activities ๐Ÿ“„

  • Act as the primary interface between the customer, engineering teams and commissioning stakeholders ๐Ÿค

  • Chair acceptance & commissioning meetings and workshops to drive alignment and delivery ๐Ÿช‘

  • Support the Programme Hold Point Control strategy and associated documentation โ›”

  • Contribute to integrated programme schedules, including commissioning milestones and deliverables ๐Ÿ“Š

  • Identify RAIDO items relating to acceptance and commissioning and develop mitigation strategies โš ๏ธ

  • Support procurement activities by advising on commissioning-related technical requirements ๐Ÿ›’

  • Provide technical leadership and line management to Commissioning Engineers ๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 yearsโ€™ technical experience, including proven experience as a Commissioning Manager (or similar) ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

  • Experience in a nuclear-regulated environment, with detailed knowledge of commissioning requirements, risk management, and quality assurance โ˜ข๏ธ

  • Ability to interpret and produce technical documentation: drawings, reports, plans, specifications, etc. ๐Ÿ“„

  • Confident communicator in both written and face-to-face settings; able to work autonomously or within a team ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

  • Experience with, or thorough knowledge of, Defence Lines of Development (DLoDs) ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

  • Organised and deadline-driven, ensuring team deliverables are monitored and achieved ๐Ÿ“…

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Chartership with a relevant professional engineering body ๐ŸŽ“

  • Knowledge of engineering standards and operating procedures โš™๏ธ

  • Understanding of engineering lifecycle based on CICWP ๐Ÿ”„

Additional Information

  • Staff or umbrella contractor.
  • Hybrid role withย  3 days per week in the Client’s office.
