Job description

Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, weโ€™re on a mission to Protect Life. Weโ€™re explorers, pursuing societyโ€™s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, youโ€™ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact

As Senior Product Manager for VR Labs, you will lead Axonโ€™s innovation function for immersive training. VR Labs is where new technologies and ideas are explored, tested, and validated to inform how Axon can continue raising the bar in virtual reality training. You will design and oversee structured experiments, evaluate technical feasibility and training value, and deliver clear recommendations on which concepts are worth advancing. Your work will ensure that Axon continues to explore the most promising opportunities while keeping innovation grounded in real-world impact for public safety professionals.

This role is focused on early-stage exploration, with most initiatives remaining experimental in nature. However, some programs may eventually graduate into full in-production products, and you will play a key role in guiding those transitions when they occur. By balancing curiosity with pragmatism, you will help shape how Axon identifies and incubates the technologies that could influence the next generation of immersive training.

In addition to leading Labs initiatives, you will also own TASER Arena, Axonโ€™s VR gaming initiative. TASER Arena has become a widely adopted, gamified way to reinforce TASER fundamentals and introduce agencies to the possibilities of VR training. You will be responsible for its ongoing performance, customer adoption, and ensuring it continues to deliver meaningful value to customers as part of Axonโ€™s VR portfolio.

Reports To: Sr Director, Extended Reality

Direct Reports: None, individual contributor role

Work Location: This role is based out of our Seattle, WA or Scottsdale, AZ office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.

What youโ€™ll do

  • Lead VR Labs by identifying, prototyping, and evaluating new technologies and approaches in immersive training
  • Establish and apply structured methods for assessing technology readiness and customer value
  • Partner with user research to gather insights from customers and trainees, shaping clear recommendations for future investments
  • Work with internal and external development teams to define, build, and iterate on prototypes and proofs-of-concept

  • Build and maintain solid relationships with hardware and software partners to expand Axonโ€™s innovation pipeline
  • Own TASER Arena, Axonโ€™s VR gaming initiative, ensuring it remains an accessible, gamified training experience that drives customer adoption of VR

What you bring

  • 6+ years of Product Management experience, ideally including early-stage innovation or incubation
  • Experience spearheading early-stage innovation, building business cases, and leading prototype efforts in dynamic environments
  • Comfort with ambiguity: ability to generate hypotheses, design experiments, and pivot based on results
  • Experience working with immersive technologies (VR, AR, MR) or adjacent fields (AI, haptics, multiplayer systems)
  • Ability to frame tradeoffs and influence at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally when necessary (Up to 5%)

Benefits that benefit you

  • Competitive salary and 401K with employer match
  • Discretionary paid time off
  • Robust parental leave policy
  • An award-winning office/working environment
  • Ride along with real police officers in real life situations, see them use technology, get inspired
