Your Purpose

As a Senior Software Engineer in Bitso’s new Growth team, you’ll be key to scaling user acquisition. This role offers the chance to build the growth engineering function from scratch, directly impacting millions in Latin America by optimizing acquisition systems, referral programs, and conversion funnels. You’ll be the engineering lead of the growth team, autonomously delivering high-impact solutions that drive measurable business outcomes and user growth.

Reports To

You will be part of the Growth team within Bitso Retail, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. This is a unique opportunity to join a team in its formative stage, where your contributions will fundamentally shape how Bitso acquires and onboards the next generation of crypto users across Latin America.

Who You Are

You are an experienced engineer with strong full-stack capabilities and excellent communication skills in English. You thrive in autonomous environments and are comfortable working directly with stakeholders from Product, Marketing, and Design to transform business requirements into technical solutions. You’re excited by the opportunity to build something new and have the technical versatility to work across web, backend, and occasionally mobile platforms.

Requirements

Core Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with strong full-stack development capabilities (check Technical requirements)
  • Clear and effective communication in English
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions

Technical Requirements:

Frontend (Primary Focus - 60%)

  • Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Proficiency in React and NextJS framework
  • Experience with Tailwind CSS for UI development
  • Knowledge of react-intl/next-intl or any other internationalization tool.
  • Experience with data fetching and caching using SWR or React Query

Backend (30%)

  • Solid experience with Java (Java 21 experience is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of Spring Framework
  • Experience with AWS, Microservices, and Distributed Systems,
  • Proficiency in PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases like Redis
  • Strong grasp of software engineering principles including performance, scalability, and availability

Mobile (10%)

  • Basic familiarity with React Native or willingness to learn

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with growth/marketing tools such as CleverTap, Adjust, or Amplitude
  • Knowledge of experimentation frameworks and A/B testing methodologies
  • Experience with analytics platforms like Segment and Amplitude
  • Understanding of SEO technical requirements and Core Web Vitals
  • Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques
  • Previous experience in the crypto/blockchain industry
  • Experience in fintech or high-growth technology companies
  • Track record of technical leadership or mentoring other engineers
  • Experience working in Latin American markets

What You Will Do

  • Build the foundation: Architect and implement scalable solutions for our multi-channel acquisition infrastructure, including SEO optimization, paid marketing integrations, and landing page systems
  • Optimize our growth engine: Enhance and scale our referral system to operate autonomously while maintaining efficiency at scale (currently driving 80% of our traffic)
  • Drive conversions: Design and implement improvements to our acquisition funnels, ensuring smooth user journeys from first touch to activation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work directly with Product Managers, Marketing, Design, and Data Science teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Measure and iterate: Implement tracking, analytics, and experimentation frameworks to measure the impact of growth initiatives and continuously optimize based on data
  • Own your domain: Take full ownership of growth engineering initiatives, from conception through deployment and optimization
  • Shape the future: As an early member of the Growth team, help establish engineering best practices, tooling, and processes that will scale with the team

Key Objectives You’ll Drive

  • Scale our referral system for autonomous operation while improving efficiency
  • Establish multi-channel acquisition foundations across SEO, paid marketing, and owned channels
  • Improve acquisition-to-activation conversion rates through funnel optimization
  • Increase acquisition volume through proprietary channels (Website, Referrals, Email, Social)
  • Diversify acquisition channels to reduce dependency on any single source
