What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Leading the technical delivery of the new Metrics Platform from foundation to scale.

• Building tools and infrastructure that enable teams to standardise, explore, and act on key business metrics.

• Collaborating closely with Product, Data Science, and TPMs to deliver features like segmentation, annotations, alerting, and root cause analysis.

• Laying the groundwork for AI-driven analytics across Canva’s product organisation.

• Growing and nurturing a high-performing, multi-disciplinary engineering team.

• Driving usage, feedback loops, and adoption through fast iteration cycles.

You’re probably a match if:

• You’ve led platform teams before—especially in the data or metrics space—and love building 0→1.

• You bring deep backend expertise, and are comfortable working across data infrastructure, semantic models, and internal tools.

• You’ve delivered products that are technically complex but intuitive to use—especially for internal teams.

• You enjoy mentoring engineers and building an engineering culture rooted in empathy, velocity, and excellence.

• You’re comfortable with ambiguity and love bringing clarity and direction to big technical challenges.

• You think in systems and are excited by the opportunity to shape how thousands of Canvanauts understand and act on metrics.

About the team

The Metrics Platform team sits within Product Insights Enablement (PIE)—a group dedicated to unlocking smarter, faster product development at Canva. PIE builds “Pilot,” our internal experimentation platform, and is now expanding into centralised metrics management. This new team will create a source of truth for company-wide business metrics—powering everything from performance reviews to AI-driven insights.
