Job description

About us, but we’ll be brief

We are thrilled to share that FORTUNE has named Experian one of the 100 Best Companies to work for. In addition, for the last five years we’ve been listed as one of the 100 “World’s Most Innovative Companies” by Forbes Magazine.

What you’ll be doing

Experian IT Services (EITS) is the centralized technology organization that globally supports all of Experian. Our organization is comprised of about 2,000 employees across the globe supporting and improving our business-critical IT environment/ecosystem. Experian IT Services includes Infrastructure Services, Cyber & Information Security, and Enterprise Architecture. We drive growth through reusable technology providing quicker time to market for solutions, increased productivity, and a more secure environment.

Experian is the leading global information services company, providing data and analytical tools to our clients around the world. We have always believed that data has the potential to transform lives and create a better tomorrow. We are transforming data into something meaningful: helping businesses to manage credit risk, preventing fraud, targeting marketing offers and automating decision making. We have been named one of the “World’s Most Innovative Companies” by Forbes for 3 years in a row. Experian has operated at the center of Big Data since before the phrase was coined. Few companies can offer information services on an equivalent scale.

We are hiring a Senior Observability Engineer to join our Observability Engineering team in Hyderabad, operating in a hybrid work model. This engineering-centric role focuses on building scalable, automated, and developer-friendly observability platforms. You will collaborate with Cloud Engineering & Operations to develop a unified self-service observability platform that enables teams to instrument, monitor, and troubleshoot applications across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Your work will involve integrating telemetry pipelines, event management workflows, and automation frameworks. You’ll standardize observability practices by building reusable templates, automation scripts, and onboarding accelerators, embedding observability into CI/CD pipelines, and driving OpenTelemetry adoption. These efforts will enhance developer experience, reduce operational overhead, and improve system reliability across Experian’s global technology ecosystem.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design and implement observability solutions using Dynatrace, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry to support scalable, automated, and developer-friendly platforms.
  • Develop reusable patterns, templates, and automation scripts to drive consistency across observability practices and reduce manual effort in telemetry onboarding.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that deliver actionable insights into system performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Integrate observability into CI/CD workflows using Jenkins and related tooling to enable continuous feedback and faster incident detection.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment using Terraform and Ansible to support observability at scale.
  • Lead Proof of Value (POV) efforts to assess emerging observability tools and ensure alignment with Experian’s roadmap and future readiness.
  • Implement and manage OpenTelemetry pipelines for standardized collection of traces, metrics, and logs, supporting vendor-agnostic ingestion strategies.
  • Collaborate with Business Units (BUs), Developers, and Platform Engineers to embed observability into the software delivery lifecycle and improve developer experience.
  • Provide enablement through training, documentation, and reusable assets to accelerate adoption and promote observability best practices.
  • Define and implement SLIs/SLOs and error budgets with Business Units to support reliability engineering and improve service health visibility.
  • Enhance operational excellence by enabling proactive monitoring, reducing customer pain points, and streamlining incident workflows.
  • Amplify AIOps outcomes by integrating observability data into intelligent automation and decision-making across technology and business teams.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What your background looks like

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Observability / Monitoring Engineering or DevOps roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with one or more observability platforms: Dynatrace, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and Python.
  • Experience building dashboards and writing automation scripts for monitoring and alerting.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and microservices such as Kubernetes and containerized environments.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and experience working in Agile frameworks, collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working directly with internal stakeholders or customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

It’s a Plus if you have:

  • Hands-on experience with open-source observability solutions like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Any cloud observability certification (e.g., Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk).
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, Developer – AWS preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, ITSM, and ServiceNow Event Management.
