You will be joining the Automation Operations Centre within WPP’s Enterprise Technology, Automation & AI department. This is a pivotal time for us as we’re building a dedicated, in-house team to deliver, manage, monitor, and optimize our growing portfolio of automation solutions. This team is at the forefront of our digital transformation, ensuring the seamless operation and continuous improvement of critical automation capabilities across WPP globally
You will play a crucial role in solution delivery and day-to-day technology management of the Global Automation Operations Centre (AOC) program. Reporting to the Automation Operations Manager and supporting. Automation product, platform and delivery teams worldwide, you will ensure our automation projects are well managed and supported to deliver quantifiable returns.
The AOC is chartered to support automation products delivered by the Automation & AI product team, or projects delivered by Automation delivery teams from around WPP. Our support apparatus gives those teams confidence and freedom to hand over their existing successes and continue innovating.

We are looking for an L1 Automation Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. This entry-level role is perfect for someone eager to start their career in automation & AI support and operations, where you’ll be responsible for the initial monitoring, triage, and resolution of incidents for our RPA bots and Power Platform solutions. You’ll gain invaluable hands-on experience, working with cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with experienced engineers to ensure our global automation processes run smoothly.
What you’ll be doing:
- Solution Development: Develop new automation solutions and extend existing products using a hybrid stack of RPA (UiPath/Microsoft) and Power Platform components.
- Technical Refinement: Lead the effort to adapt and refine existing automatic projects to ensure they meet evolving global business requirements and architectural standards.
- Platform Support: Deliver expert design, build and optimization for Microsoft Power Automate flows, Power Apps, and Dataverse-backed solution components.
- Data & Integration: Write and optimize SQL, FetchXML, and Dataverse API queries for data validation, to support intricate automation logic, and to efficiently troubleshoot workflow failures.
- API Management: Design efficient, high-performance Cloud Flows utilizing deep expertise in REST API integration, JSON manipulation, and XPath.
- Dependency Management: Proactively manage data sources, connections, and backend dependencies crucial for automation functionality.
- Updates & Upgrades: Support the deployment of updates, patches, and version upgrades for RPA tools and Power Platform components, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for workflows, logic, and runbooks, while collaborating with Agile PMs and Engineering Leads to resolve technical blockers.
What you’ll need:
- Overall experience: 7+ years of experience in automation operations, technology development.
- RPA & Power Platform: At least 4 years of dedicated experience specifically with RPA technologies (UiPath or Microsoft) and/or Power Platform.
- Technical Architecture: Expert proficiency in Typescript/Javascript, Dataverse architecture, Model-driven Apps, and Power Automate Online.
- Integration Expertise: Deep understanding of RESTful services, JSON schema, and complex data manipulation (XPath/Expressions) for efficient flow design.
- Database Proficiency: Advanced capability in using SQL, FetchXML, and Dataverse API for data validation and troubleshooting.
- Methodology: Proven experience as an Agile practitioner, specifically within Kanban or Scrum environments.
- Problem-solving: Proven experience dealing with technical blockers, run-time errors, and environment configuration challenges.
- Effective Communicator: Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for documenting technical logic and communicating with stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in maintaining configuration items and troubleshooting guides.
Mandatory Certifications
- PL-400: Microsoft Power Platform Developer Associate OR
- PL-500: Microsoft Certified Power Automate RPA Developer Associate
Preferred Certifications:
- PL-400 or PL-500: (Whichever certification is not held as a mandatory requirement)
- GH-300: GitHub Copilot (Required within 3 months of joining)
- Automation Developer Professional: Relevant certification from a major RPA vendor
like UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism
