🏢 Business🟢 Entry Level

Job description

The Pepperstone story started in 2010. We know what it’s like to trade the world’s markets. Our team describes us as a place for the curious and the driven, and we like to do things a little differently; as a transformative global fintech, we’re digital, nimble, connected, and united in our vision to create a better way to trade.

We thrive on progress – for our clients and for ourselves. Our organisational culture is ever-evolving, vibrant, diverse, global, and results-focused. You’ll find our 550+ team currently across 11 locations and 9 time zones.

The Role This role acts as a bridge between business and technical teams to ensure data solutions are fit-for-purpose, scalable, and aligned with enterprise data strategy. You will help embed good data management practices into those teams. In addition, this role will also provide user support and guidance, enabling adoption of new tools to achieve better outcomes.

The Value Proposition of the Technical Business Analyst is uplifting the speed to market and quality of data solutions which support strategic outcomes including deep insights into our clients and partners; trusted, reliable data for our stakeholders; self-service and near real-time access to data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and the Enterprise Data Strategy.
  • Document and maintain solution artefacts including, but not limited to, conceptual and logical data models, data flows, process maps, component views, and integration points. Ensure artefacts are scalable, reusable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Analyse and model current-state business and technical processes. Identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and support the design of future-state processes in collaboration with delivery teams.
  • Promote and embed data governance practices across the Enterprise Data team. Where standards and templates are lacking, proactively develop and drive adoption of documentation and metadata frameworks.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with cross-functional teams. Translate complex technical concepts into clear business language and ensure stakeholder alignment throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Support change management activities including impact assessments, training material development, testing coordination, and post-implementation reviews to ensure successful adoption of data solutions.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers, Architects, and Analysts to validate requirements, interpret profiling results, and ensure data quality and consistency across solutions.
  • Build subject matter expertise in key data domains, systems, and business processes over time.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the manager to meet operational and strategic needs.

The role reports to the Program Manager in Enterprise Data.

About you

  • 5+ years’ experience in data-focused business analysis roles within Financial Services or FinTech.

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBoK, DCAM).

  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Modelling, Data Integration, Data Security, Reporting.

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, transformation environments.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience in Agile delivery environments.

  • Proficiency in documenting data and process artefacts using tools such as Confluence, Lucidchart, and Jira.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (preferably AWS Redshift, Snowflake) and modern data architecture concepts.

  • Ability to interpret and validate SQL queries to support requirement gathering and solution validation.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in maintaining an Enterprise Business Glossary or Metadata Repository.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, Australian Privacy Act, NIST).
  • Exposure to data modelling tools (e.g., Erwin, ER/Studio).
  • Understanding of BI tools such as Tableau (for collaboration, not hands-on reporting).
  • Change management experience in data or technology programs.

Why you will enjoy working with us

  • Competitive salary structure including company bonus scheme
  • Flexible and hybrid working
  • Remote working option - work from anywhere for up to 6 weeks per year
