ABOUT OUR TEAM

We are a remote-first team that sits across Europe and North America and comes together once a month in-person for 3 days and for longer offsites twice a year.

Our R&D and production teams are a combination of more research and more engineering-oriented profiles, however, everyone deeply cares about the quality of the systems we build and has a strong underlying knowledge of software development. We believe that good engineering leads to faster development iterations, which allows us to compound our efforts.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As poolside’s VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for all things in our engineering roadmap, building a high-performance culture, and ensuring scalability across multiple teams and company priorities. You will oversee multiple engineering teams, partner closely with product and GTM, and be the ultimate delivery owner. You will also travel significantly between the US and Europe.

YOUR MISSION

Build and scale a world-class engineering organization that takes AI from a developer tool to a universal platform for human knowledge work. Starting with developer tools and multi-agent systems for the enterprise, you will drive the technical foundation that expands into broader AI applications across new verticals and consumer experiences. Your success will be measured by our ability to ship products that scale from IDE assistants today to enterprise agent orchestration to eventually powering AI experiences that transform how all knowledge work gets done—maintaining startup velocity while building the infrastructure for a generational AI company.

Delivery, delivery and delivery. Today we work with large defense contractors and the public sector, tomorrow with enterprise at large and directly with developers. We’re building products and systems to be used by millions and joining this early on will offer the chance to see it all from the beginning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and drive the overall engineering vision, strategy, and organizational structure

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a team of engineering leaders, including Heads of Engineering and Engineering Managers

  • Partner with Product, GTM, and other teams to drive alignment and efficiency

  • Set the standard for delivery and drive across the engineering organisation

  • Own engineering budgets, headcount planning, and resource allocation

  • Represent engineering at the leadership level, communicating progress and challenges effectively

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in engineering leadership roles, having witnessed and managed hypergrowth

  • Proven track record of scaling engineering teams and leading managers and leaders

  • Experience building developer tools, agents or products that might be relevant to poolside’s context
