Introduction:
We are seeking a seasoned Backend Architect to join our Digital Signage Cloud team. You will lead the design and evolution of scalable, secure, and cloud-native backend systems that power a global multimedia and device management platform. The ideal candidate brings deep backend expertise, hands-on experience with AWS serverless technologies, and a solid understanding of distributed system design. Experience with IoT platforms and AI integrations is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and evolve backend systems to ensure modularity, scalability, and performance across a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
- Design and implement cloud-native serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, and Cognito.
- Define backend standards and drive best practices for API design, authentication, error handling, and observability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend engineers, product managers, DevOps, and QA to deliver cohesive solutions.
- Implement secure, standards-compliant authentication and authorization using tools like Okta, Cognito, OAuth2, and OIDC.
- Guide design decisions for IoT integration, ensuring secure and reliable cloud-device communication (e.g., MQTT, WebSockets).
- Lead design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
- Explore and incorporate AI/ML capabilities, including LLMs and generative workflows, into backend service architecture.
- Maintain focus on performance optimization, cost-efficiency, and operational excellence through metrics and monitoring tools
Skill & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of backend development experience with at least 3 years in architectural leadership roles.
- Expert-level proficiency in Node.js / TypeScript, including asynchronous programming and modular architecture.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and scaling applications using AWS serverless services.
- Proven understanding of distributed systems, multi-tenancy, RBAC, and backend security principles.
- Exposure to IoT systems and edge/cloud integration patterns is a strong advantage.
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code (CDK/Terraform), Git workflows, and automated testing.
- Familiarity with React or modern frontend frameworks .
- Knowledge of AI/ML integrations, LLM tooling (Cursor, Windsurf), or generative AI workflows is a bonus.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work across teams and functions.
