Job Description
The role
Join the GradConnection team facilitating the employment marketplace between graduate students and graduate hirers. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to balance high-quality user experiences with business objectives, working across our Asia-Pacific platforms spanning eight countries to create innovative solutions and drive best practice experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Systems-oriented thinking: design across both sides of the marketplace (graduates and graduate hirers) with strong grasp of ecosystem interconnections;
- Customer-centric approach: deep empathy for graduate and employer audiences to prioritise usability and outcomes supporting business goals;
- Dynamic collaboration: work with product managers, engineers and stakeholders delivering impactful solutions balancing user needs, business goals and technical feasibility;
- Design leadership: plan design initiatives aligned with product outcomes; lead end-to-end design including research, prototyping, usability testing, visual design and data analysis;
- Design advocacy: communicate decisions with clear rationale through compelling storytelling aligned with company objectives;
- Systems & consistency: leverage and evolve Design System for product consistency, creating bespoke components when necessary;
- Inclusive design: create solutions tailored to Asia-Pacific’s cultural and linguistic diversity; and
- Innovation: investigate emerging technologies (AI, personalisation) to enhance platform functionality and user experience.
Qualifications
Essential requirements
- 5+ years online or software product design experience, ideally at marketplace or SaaS company;
- Ability to define design plans ensuring high-quality outputs within timeframes, balancing risks and trade-offs;
- Skilled in leading design thinking techniques, especially workshop facilitation;
- Proficiency in planning and conducting user research, usability testing and generating actionable insights;
- Proven ability transforming customer insights into beautiful, effortless experiences;
- Expertise in visual design creating polished UI components with branding and accessibility consistency;
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills articulating design decisions aligned with user insights and business goals; and
- Advanced Figma proficiency.
Desirable
- Familiarity with research and analytics tools (HotJar, Intercom, Dovetail);
- Knowledge of collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Miro);
- Ability to align design decisions with user and business goals; and
- Comfortable in fast-paced, iterative environment with shifting priorities.
