Job Description

The AVEVA E3D Administrator is embedded within the Ramboll Tech Team and acts as a core technical function responsible for the administration, governance, and support of AVEVA E3D platforms for the Energy Global Business Area (GBA).

The role provides centralized ownership of AVEVA environments, standards, and integrations, ensuring stable, secure, and standardized system operations across Energy projects. Working as an integral member of Ramboll Tech, the position supports global project teams throughout the full project lifecycle—from setup and execution to handover and close-out.

Job Description

AVEVA E3D Administrator

  • Act as the custodian and single point of ownership for AVEVA E3D projects within the Energy Global Business Area.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for day-to-day AVEVA E3D operations, ensuring platform stability, availability, and performance.
  • Own project environment setup, including databases, MDBs, user access, roles, and permissions, in line with discipline governance.
  • Own and administrate the AVEVA Global setup, serving as the central authority for configuration across Energy GBA projects.
  • Monitor system health and proactively manage issues, risks, and operational incidents affecting E3D projects.
  • Manage and govern AVEVA Catalogues and Specifications, ensuring controlled updates and compliance with project and client standards.
  • Own AVEVA Draw & Isodraft administration, including templates, drawing standards, revisions, and model-to-drawing synchronization.
  • Manage and govern the AVEVA MDS E3D Support Setup, ensuring correct configuration, Project specific Customization, maintenance, and governance.
  • Manage and govern third-party models using AVEVA Model Simplification within the E3D environment.
  • Configure, control, and support AVEVA Review and model export & Import setups, ensuring correct formats, coordinates, and deliverable quality.
  • Maintain operational documentation, change logs, and best-practice guidelines.
  • Support user onboarding, provide expert guidance, and act as the go-to authority for E3D-related queries.
  • Look for initiatives for automation and ongoing improvement. Work together with the development team to improve user experience and operational efficiency.

Areas of responsibility

AVEVA E3D Platform Administration

  • Administrate, maintain, and support AVEVA E3D environments for Energy GBA projects.
  • Set up and manage projects, MDBs, users, roles, access controls, and environments in line with Ramboll Tech standards.
  • Perform system health checks, backups, restorations, and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot E3D issues related to performance, access, database integrity, and multi-user conflicts.

AVEVA Catalogue & Specifications

  • Configure, maintain, and govern AVEVA E3D Catalogues and Specifications aligned with Ramboll and Energy GBA standards.
  • Create, modify, and validate catalogue components for piping, equipment, structural, and supports.
  • Coordinating with Energy discipline leads to ensure specification compliance, data consistency, and data accuracy.

AVEVA E3D Support / MDS Setup (3D & 2D)

  • AVEVA MDS Support Set for both 3D and 2D environments, ensuring proper configuration, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
  • Support the creation, modification, and validation of pipe supports, structural supports, and related components within E3D.
  • Configure and maintain 2D Drawing ADP setups to enable the drawing production.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve modelling or extraction issues, providing technical guidance and support to project teams.

AVEVA IsoDraft Administration

  • Configure and maintain IsoDraft styles, rules, and extraction settings.
  • Support piping isometric generation, title blocks, annotations, dimensions, Symbol Representation and revisions as per project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot IsoDraft issues linked to catalogues, specifications, or database setup.

AVEVA Draw Administration

  • Configure and support AVEVA Draw environments, including templates, title blocks, symbols, and drawing standards.
  • Support production of GA drawings, plans, sections, and details.
  • Ensure drawings comply with Ramboll and client-specific standards.

AVEVA Review & Export Setup

  • Configure and support Navisworks for model visualization, design reviews, and coordination.
  • Set up and manage model exports (RVM, DGN, NWD, IFC, STP, and other neutral formats).
  • Ensure correct export settings, coordinate systems, filters, and level of detail.
  • Support multi-discipline model federation and external stakeholder reviews.

AVEVA Global Setup & Configuration

  • Own and administer the AVEVA Global setup, ensuring correct configuration and availability across Energy GBA projects & Client.
  • Coordinate with the Network Team to establish secure VPN tunnels and connectivity for global access.
  • Maintain smooth day-to-day operations by monitoring and managing database synchronization and ensuring consistent performance across regions.

Project & User Support

  • Act as the primary E3D technical point of contact within Ramboll Tech for Energy GBA projects.
  • Support multi-discipline engineering teams (Piping, Structural, Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical, Telecom, Instrumentation).
  • Provide user onboarding and best-practice guidance.
  • Support model handover, archiving, and project close-out activities.

Standards, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all AVEVA E3D setups are aligned with the Ramboll Cloud strategy and established Design Environment standards.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities within the AVEVA E3D environment using scripts, utilities, or tools (PML, PowerShell, Script).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring AVEVA E3D operations remain efficient, compliant, and standardized across all Energy GBA projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in E ngineering or related technical Field.
  • 7 + years of experience in AVEVA E3D administration preferably within Energy, Oil & Gas, Offshore, Power, Renewables projects.
  • Hands-on experience Required:
    • AVEVA E3D, Including IsoDraft, Draw, Catalogue & Specification and MDS Support.
    • Strong experience in AVEVA PML scripting and customization
    • AVEVA Global setup and configuration

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Experience with at least one programming language such as VB.NET, .NET, C#, Python, or any other relevant programming language.

  • Strong understanding of AVEVA data models, project structures, and multi-discipline interfaces.

  • Familiarity with AVEVA licensing models and AVEVA Connect.

  • Work experience in cloud and virtualized environments (Azure, AWS, GCP, Citrix) for AVEVA deployment.

  • Certification in AVEVA or relevant systems administration is a plus.
