AI Design Automation Specialist

Contract | ThinkCERCA | Remote

About ThinkCERCA

ThinkCERCA is at the forefront of AI-powered learning solutions, helping educators and students succeed with cutting-edge technology. We’re seeking an AI Design Automation Specialist to solve a critical challenge: transforming our beautiful teacher guide designs from concept to reality at scale.

The Challenge

We’ve created a stunning design for our teacher module guides—a clean, intuitive layout that teachers love. However, with nearly hundreds modules and state-by-state data variations, manually populating this design would take months of human effort. We need someone who can bridge design tools and data automation to make this vision a reality.

Role Overview

As an AI Design Automation Specialist, you’ll develop a system that integrates AI workflows with design tools (particularly InDesign) to automatically populate our teacher guide templates with structured data. You’ll work at the intersection of design automation, data processing, and AI to transform spreadsheets and data sources into publication-ready materials at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Automation Pipeline – Build robust systems that connect InDesign with structured data sources (spreadsheets, databases) to automatically generate teacher guide layouts across 450+ modules
  • AI-Powered Data Processing – Leverage AI tools to clean, standardize, and transform educational content data for design automation workflows
  • Template Development – Optimize and script InDesign templates for automated population while maintaining design integrity and visual quality
  • State-Specific Customization – Create flexible systems that handle state-by-state variations in educational standards and module data
  • Quality Assurance – Develop validation workflows to ensure automated outputs meet design and content standards
  • Documentation & Handoff – Create clear documentation of automation systems for ongoing maintenance and iteration

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong experience with Adobe InDesign scripting (JavaScript/ExtendScript) and automation workflows
  • Proficiency in data processing and transformation (Excel, Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Understanding of AI/LLM capabilities for content processing, data cleaning, and standardization
  • Experience working with structured data formats (CSV, JSON, XML) and spreadsheets
  • Design sensibility – ability to maintain visual quality and layout integrity in automated workflows
  • Strong systems thinking – able to design robust, maintainable automation pipelines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and edge cases

Preferred Skills

  • Background in design systems or template-based publishing workflows
  • Experience with educational content or understanding of K-12 standards frameworks
  • Familiarity with data validation and quality control processes
  • Knowledge of version control for design assets and code
  • Experience with API integrations connecting design tools to data sources

Why Work With ThinkCERCA?

  • Solve a high-impact problem that directly helps teachers access better resources
  • Work at the intersection of design, data, and AI—exactly where innovation happens
  • Flexible remote work environment with opportunities for creative problem-solving
  • Transform months of manual work into an elegant, automated system
  • Collaborate with a mission-driven team dedicated to educational excellence
