Job Description

This role is located in Budapest, Hungary - We are a hybrid work environment and are in the office 3+ days/per week.

Tulip, the leader in frontline operations, is helping companies around the world equip their workforce with connected apps, leading to higher quality work, improved efficiency, and end-to-end traceability across operations. Companies of all sizes and across industries have implemented composable solutions with Tulip’s cloud-native, no-code platform to solve some of the most pressing challenges in operations: error-proofing processes and boosting productivity, capturing and analyzing real-time data, and continuous improvement.

A spinoff out of MIT, Tulip is headquartered in Somerville, MA, with offices in Germany and Hungary. Focused on composable, human-centric solutions for industrial environments, Tulip is disrupting the MES category and has been recognized as a World Economic Forum Global Innovator.

Software systems are complex beasts filled with odd historical intricacies and idiosyncrasies. Tulip is looking for someone who marvels at the complexity of real, production-level systems and finds joy in creating a future-facing vision of how to improve them.

About You:

  • You care about developer productivity and building tools that make engineers’ lives easier and more enjoyable.
  • You think holistically about the software development lifecycle — from local dev environment to CI/CD pipelines to production deployment & observability.
  • You enjoy collaborating across teams and have a talent for gathering requirements from diverse stakeholders.
  • You take ownership of the internal tools and platforms you build, treating internal users with the same care as external customers.
  • You champion engineering best practices and enjoy spreading knowledge through documentation, demos, and mentorship.

What skills do I need?

  • You can pick up new languages/frameworks with ease. We don’t require specific experience with the stack that we use, but we do currently run Go and Typescript services on Kubernetes.
  • You have experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions, build systems, linters, test frameworks).
  • You can communicate as well as you can code. You understand the value of discussion and work best in a team that champions clear and frequent communication.
  • You understand, and can spread knowledge around the multiple tiers of an effective automated testing strategy

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain internal developer tools, platforms, and workflows used across Tulip’s engineering organization.
  • Own and improve CI/CD infrastructure to reduce build times, increase reliability, and enable faster iteration.
  • Identify and eliminate friction in the developer experience through automation, better tooling, and streamlined workflows.
  • Establish and document best practices for code quality, testing, and development workflows.
  • Contribute to onboarding tooling and documentation to help new engineers ramp up quickly and effectively.

Key Collaborators:

  • Engineering team
  • QA team
  • TechOps team
