Description of the Role

We are looking for a Junior/Mid Software Quality Engineer to join our highly motivated team. In this role, you will use your knowledge of manual and automated testing to place complex, well-engineered web applications and RESTful APIs under incredible stress to drive quality.

Depending on your level of experience (Junior or Mid), you will either participate in or take technical ownership of quality assurance processes, automation frameworks, and strategies. You have a keen eye for detail, an analytical mind, and excellent communication skills.

Location: Kuala Lumpur or remote | Time Zone: Asia Time Zone (Must be aligned)

Type: Full-time

Contract: Employment Contract, hybrid ( 1 day/week in the office required if based in Kuala Lumpur) / B2B Contract ( fully remote from other locations in the Asia Time Zone)

Salary: up to 5000 MYR (Malaysian ringgit) gross/month

Responsibilities

  • Automation & Framework Design: Design, build, participate in, and maintain new and existing automated test frameworks (Web, iOS, and Android). Take technical ownership of key automation assets and roadmaps.
  • Test Execution & Strategy: Collaborate with the team to develop effective test strategies, including approaches for test data, regression testing, usability, performance, and scalability.
  • AI-Assisted Testing: Evaluate, adopt, and utilize AI-assisted testing techniques (AI coding assistants, automated test-case generation, test-data creation, and log/failure analysis) to maximize testing throughput and efficiency.
  • Incident & Release Management: Own or manage product issue analysis, triage, resolution, and communication (incident management and root cause analysis). Conduct thorough post-release and post-implementation testing.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a bridge between the engineering team, Product Managers, and other departments to ensure quality throughout the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Team Growth & Mentorship: Prepare technical documentation for automated testing. For mid-level candidates, this includes leading, coaching, and upskilling other QA engineers on tools and AI testing trends.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1- 4 years of proven experience as a QA Engineer ( automation) or a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong functional and non-functional testing skills (both automation and manual), ideally within a continuous delivery environment.
  • Automation Tools & Technologies: Working knowledge or a strong desire to master Playwright, Cypress, and/or Appium. Familiarity with task management tools like Jira and Xray. Working knowledge with version control such as Github.
  • AI Literacy: Familiarity or hands-on experience using AI tools to speed up testing processes and test-case generation.
  • Mindset & Soft Skills: An analytical mind, strong problem-solving aptitude, and a strong sense of ownership. Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure and motivate peers.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills to evangelize the QA vision across stakeholders.
  • English: very good level of English (both written and spoken), min. B2 ( only CVs in English will be considered)
  • Education: BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
