Job description
We are seeking an experienced AI Backend Developer with strong expertise in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to design, implement, and optimize AI-powered backend services. The ideal candidate will have deep proficiency in Python and the Azure stack, particularly Azure AI Search and Azure OpenAI, and will be capable of integrating these services seamlessly into a Drupal + React frontend environment.

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop backend services leveraging RAG architectures to deliver intelligent, context-aware responses.
- Build and maintain integrations with Azure AI Search and Azure OpenAI, optimizing query performance, relevance, and scalability.
- Develop Python-based APIs and microservices to support AI workflows and connect with the Drupal + React frontend.
- Collaborate with frontend and DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment and integration of AI services.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and performance tuning for AI pipelines.
- Maintain security best practices for data handling, authentication, and API usage.
- Research and recommend new AI tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance system capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in backend development with Python.
- Strong knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts and practical implementation.
- Hands-on expertise with Azure AI Search and Azure OpenAI.
- Familiarity with Drupal and React environments and their integration points.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Proficiency in cloud-based development, deployment, and monitoring (Azure preferred).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
