Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support our CFO in managing all aspects of accounting and financial reporting. This is a high-impact role at a growing SaaS company, ideal for a finance professional ready to take the next step toward leadership. You’ll help build and refine processes, oversee month-end close, manage audits, and ensure financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Support the CFO with day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Prepare internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Lead coordination with external auditors for annual audits
Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
Improve and document internal controls and accounting processes
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Work cross-functionally with teams to support operational efficiency and strategic initiatives
Support ad hoc analysis and special projects for the CFO
Additional Responsibilities
Maintain and document accounting policies and procedures to support internal controls and operational consistency
Assist in preparing the annual budget and rolling forecasts; track and analyze variances
Perform financial analysis to support business decisions related to pricing, contracts, and investment opportunities
Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
Support tax compliance including preparation of federal, state, and local returns, as well as 1099 filings
Review contracts for appropriate revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606
Collaborate on accounting system improvements and process optimization initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA preferred)
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS, tech, or growth-oriented environment
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS)
Experience with ERP/accounting systems, Sage Intacct is preferred. (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
