Live events are at the core of Niantic products and highlight our real-world social experience at its best. Niantic is looking for an Associate Live Events Manager to support the network and operational execution of Asia-Pacific based events for Pokémon GO. These include major events such as Pokémon GO Tour and Pokémon GO Fest, and smaller events such as Pokémon GO City Safaris. The ideal candidate will have a passion ensuring the behind-the-scenes work is seamless to create “magic” for the player experience.

The primary scope of the role would be to support the Network Connectivity Team with outreach and coordination related to Japanese carriers and event network infrastructure planning. As time and bandwidth permits, this role will also support live event project management and marketing workstreams. As someone who will work under tight timelines with internal (Engineering, Product, Operations, and Legal) and external teams (agencies, vendors, and partners), the ideal candidate is an outstandingly organized collaborator who knows how to work alongside multiple partners to align on a common vision and execute flawlessly.

This is a full-time position based in the Tokyo, Japan office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams and external agencies and vendors to ensure an operationally smooth experience for teams and players. Work with internal stakeholders to understand product roadmaps and incorporate them into live events.
  • Support the planning and execution of our Asia-Pacific based live events marketing calendar, ranging from 5,000 to 300,000 players.
  • Relied upon to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings with Japanese carriers for onsite surveys, network design reviews, performance assessments, capacity planning, and deployment discussions
  • Provide accurate and timely Japanese-English translations during preparatory communications and live event meetings to ensure clear understanding between internal teams and external partners
  • Act as the primary liaison during critical phases of event execution, maintaining real-time availability to assist the Network Connectivity Engineering Team with urgent communications and updates
  • Ensure detailed documentation and follow-up of all discussions and decisions involving network-related requirements and deliverables
  • Manage and support project management through tools such as Asana, workback schedules, and internal slide creation.
  • Support the branded event asset creation process from design to approval to production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.
  • Required in-office 3 days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years experience producing live events and/or managing complex marketing projects.
  • Proficient in Japanese and English
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including asynchronous interactions with others.
