Job description
The Content Strategist provides a holistic approach to content strategy for VERB’s clients. They have a deep understanding of marketing principles and are able to apply that knowledge when owning content strategy and deliverables.
What You Will Do
Write and edit clear, concise, compelling, and high-quality website copy, ad copy, social media posts, video scripts, blogs, and email copy as required for VERB clients
Write copy that reflects an established brand voice
Review existing content for gaps and quality and make recommendations on improvements
Proofread copy for colleagues
Coordinate and set up brainstorms, as well as create tickets to keep projects on track
Implement keyword strategies as recommended by the SEO team
Develop content calendars for clients and work with SEO and Analytics teams to review data and insights to make informed recommendations
Be vigilant about staying on top of news, developments, and trends that impact tactics, and clearly communicate these findings to clients and colleagues
Support with the development of voice and tone guides, as well as brand guides, for clients
Attend client status calls as required
2+ years of copywriting experience
Post-secondary education in Journalism, English, Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Business, or equivalent experience
Strong creative mindset with the ability to think outside of the box
Proven experience developing and executing highly creative and effective brand and content strategies and campaigns
Avid interest in implementing new tactics and harnessing the power of new tools
Demonstrated ability to create and present creative ideas and solutions to both clients and internal management
Possesses a keen interest in measuring success by numbers and are able to share those insights with clients in an easy- to-understand way
Has a general knowledge and understanding of SEO best practices
Able to provide support and coach junior Copywriters
High attention to detail with a keen eye for copy editing (grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.).
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Must be comfortable engaging with clients and able to support new business initiatives as requested by leadership
Highly organized with the ability to function in a fast-paced business environment
Able to troubleshoot and problem solve
Proven ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects concurrently and demonstrates excellent time management skills
Willing and able to collaborate with other teams and departments
Stays up-to-date with the latest technology and trends in the world of digital marketing
