Role Overview and Objectives

The Credit & Collections Specialist reports to the Team Lead – Credit & Collections and is responsible for collecting payments, investigating delinquent accounts, analysing account performance, making recommendations to release orders on past due accounts and investigating bankruptcy claims.

Role Responsibilities

The Credit & Collections Specialist is responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Managing a ledger of customers and ensuring payment is made within agreed terms.
  • Supporting the accounts receivable team to assist collection strategy processes.
  • Monitoring and analysing collection trends and identifying debt issues at an early stage for resolution.
  • Analysing, providing recommendations and implementing process improvements.
  • Building rapport and liaising with stakeholders to solve queries relating to disputed invoices.
  • Monitoring change in credit status and alerting/updating internal and external stakeholders on significant credit status changes.
  • Monitoring and escalating internal collections.
  • Documenting customer status updates for the senior leadership team.
  • Performing financial analysis and review.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key business stakeholders to understand core business functions.
  • Supporting the continuous monitoring and evaluation of key performance indicators, forecasting and trends.
  • Ensuring governance and risk management strategies comply with applicable legislation, commonwealth government policy, relevant standards, contract obligations and the strategic priorities of Datacom.
  • Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience in business performance and finance.
  • Understanding of the business and technology strategies in which the organisation operates.
  • Strong strategic background, with an ability to grasp the big picture.
  • Knowledge of finance management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.

Experience

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.

Skills

  • Ability to manage complex issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
  • Ability to frequently interact with a variety of stakeholders and team members.
  • Ability to transform customer requirements into a technical solution and work according to deadlines.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information across various levels .
