Job description

MongoDB’s mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build and run applications anywhere—on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 new developers signing up to use MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

This staff analyst will join our analytics org within the Executive Insights team, which is responsible for synthesizing revenue and operational data from across the company to measure the trajectory and overall health of the business. Visualizations, insights and root cause analyses generated by this team routinely empower MongoDB’s executive team to make data-informed decisions.

You will work closely with partner teams in analytics, sales operations, cloud billing, and FP&A in order to not only drive alignment on business performance narratives, but also to drive company wide transparency and data democratization for critical business metrics.

The ideal candidate excels equally in data wrangling, pipelining, and storytelling, forms strong partnerships to enable cross-functional collaboration, and shares a passion for automation and continuous process improvement.

This role can be based remotely in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert at the company for revenue analysis, and as the business logic owner for how internal revenue metrics are calculated
  • Leverage technical skill set to build data products and drive automations that vastly improve our capabilities for root cause analysis of revenue changes
  • Stitch together various sources of performance metrics from across the company into golden revenue data sets that can be leveraged across the company
  • Build best in class analytics products that enable self service insights to critical company metrics
  • Work with partner teams to break down analysis silos via the creation of shared data assets and to ensure consistency with performance narratives across the company
  • Provide mentorship and guidance on best practices to junior team members

Skills & Attributes

  • Passionate about using data to help guide strategic decision making
  • Experienced at telling stories with data and communicating to stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Fluent in at least one scripting language, with a preference for Python
  • Experienced in engineering data pipelines and ETL in languages like SQL and workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow
  • Experienced in building strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues to tackle big, cross-functional problems
  • Comfortable working with executive stakeholders who need your expertise to guide their thinking
  • A strong product thinker with good product sense: you know how to get at what our partners need and how to develop solutions to satisfy those needs
  • An exceptional communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, and thrive with minimal oversight and process
