Job Summary:
The Delivery Manager at Construct will lead and mentor our project teams, engage with our clients, and ensure that we successfully deliver on our commitments. This role will report to the Head of Delivery and be responsible for the overall continuity of multiple related projects under the same account and the successful delivery of each.
Delivery
The primary responsibility of the Delivery Manager is to oversee the successful delivery of multiple projects while ensuring customer satisfaction on one or more accounts. To fulfill this responsibility, the Delivery Manager will reconcile the strategies and objectives of our clients, and with Construct. The Delivery Manager will oversee the execution of projects and monitor them to ensure that Construct standards (processes, tools, milestones, and approvals) are met, and work with the Sales, Learning, and Technical Teams to ensure continuity across projects.
Client Engagement
The Delivery Manager will engage client stakeholders as a peer, acting as a trusted advisor to our clients, serving as the primary escalation point for senior client leaders and stakeholders. The Delivery Manager will help create the goals and objectives for projects and work with Sales, Learning, Technical, and other Construct Departments to shape and manage client expectations and deliver on commitments.
Resourcing
The Delivery Manager will engage with multiple teams and Departments to identify resourcing needs, forecast resource requirements, and ensure that projects are adequately staffed so that teams can do their best work without being overstressed. The Delivery Manager will (in conjunction with the Head of Delivery) also lead the recruiting and screening of new hires to ensure that we add skilled project managers who are a good cultural fit.
Professional Growth of Project Managers and the Delivery Department
The Delivery Manager will contribute to and drive the development of the project management community in Construct by mentoring project managers and provide on-the-job training. They also take a leading role in driving the development of Construct’s delivery department.
Leadership
The Delivery Manager will provide broad, department-wide leadership across multiple teams and inspire our staff to do their best work. They are responsible for overseeing the delivery tasks assigned to multiple teams both internal and external, on client projects. This oversight involves planning, budgeting, resource management, project execution, issue resolution, and escalation.
Orchestration of Continuous Change
The Delivery Manager will thrive in an environment characterized by its fast pace and high level of collaboration. The Delivery Manager will be assigned to multiple projects and will be expected to provide suggestions for how Construct can enhance the delivery of our services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate advanced commercial reasoning, understanding how timeline, budget, and quality changes impact revenue forecasted and recognized.
- Conduct financial analysis and reporting for portfolio projects, including updates on schedules, budget, and project profitability.
- Monitor project progress, providing guidance and support to Project Managers in project execution, risk management, and issue resolution.
- Monitor project health, resourcing, and planning, providing regular reports and updates on portfolio status to the management team.
- Ensure each project has up-to-date project plans, including resource allocation, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and client requirements.
- Manage and support corporate or individual objectives through key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Manage, communicate, escalate, and resolve large-scale project and/or client issues to senior leaders within the company.
- Work closely with Account Directors and other Heads to defi ne project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Foster inter-departmental collaboration to achieve project and organisational goals.
- Ensure the learning and harvesting of new and improved best practices from every project, including end-of-project reviews and client surveys.
- Ensure effective communication and reporting to stakeholders.
- Conduct frequent check-ins with stakeholders to ensure we are meeting our objectives and deliverables.
- Cultivate strong client relationships, managing their needs and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as a point of escalation for client and internal issues.
- Implement and adhere to project management methodologies, processes, and best practices to drive consistency and improve project delivery efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhanced efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Contribute to the development and definition of our delivery strategy.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify and drive new opportunities: develop proposals with sales and client stakeholders; gather scope of work requirements, estimates, and costing.
- Provide advice for reducing complexity in projects, services, systems, and processes by monitoring customer surveys, analyzing end-of-project reviews, and retrospectives.
People Management and Skills:
- Proven track record of successfully overseeing portfolios (in terms of size and value) of projects on time, within budget, and meeting client expectations (preferably within the EdTech space).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, supporting their professional development and growth.
- Line manage up to five direct reports, aiding in their success and growth.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional, multi-location project teams, and a track record of managing numerous direct reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and relationship-building with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Sound understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and processes, with the ability to adapt to various project environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset to drive project success.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 10+ years work experience, with 5+ years in Project Management.
- A degree with a business or commercial background
- Project Management accreditation/qualification is an advantage.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
