Senior Programme Manager, Ireland

Location: Remote within Ireland with regular travel across Ireland and to Cambridge, UK

Salary: €57,750 - €63,000 p.a. full-time equivalent, dependent on experience

Basis: Permanent; full-time, part-time or flexible

Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in Ireland

The role

We are seeking an experienced programme manager to join the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s team to help increase access to computing education for young people in Ireland. Reporting to our Director for the UK & Ireland, you will be responsible for the growth and delivery of our programmes in Ireland, including both formal education and non-formal learning.

This is a varied role, and you will be responsible for partnerships, training, outreach, and more. You will also work closely with the Director for the UK & Ireland to develop our strategy for Ireland. You will have a track record of developing and delivering education programmes at scale. To succeed in this role you will need a good understanding of the Irish education system, ideally with direct experience of working in schools or non-formal education in the Republic of Ireland.

We strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care about our mission can do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be working with an exceptional team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the reach and impact of the Foundation’s products in Ireland, addressing both formal education and non-formal learning.
  • Manage the delivery of programmes in Ireland, ensuring the target outcomes are achieved and that they address the needs of participants including teachers, volunteers and young people.
  • Engage with the Irish education ecosystem, ensuring that the Foundation understands and is influencing computing education policy and is proactively engaging with relevant networks and organisations.
  • Ensure that all programmes and partnerships implement our commitments to accessibility, inclusion, and safeguarding, and that we are prioritising impact for underserved and educationally disadvantaged people and communities.
  • Build, lead, and manage a highly skilled team, providing them with the clarity and support to enable them to do great work.
  • Support the development and implementation of M&E plans. Use data and feedback to ensure quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Foundation to develop and improve products, and share learnings.
  • Contribute to the Foundation’s thought leadership through writing articles and blogs, public speaking, and contributing to research and evaluation.

Experience and personal attributes

We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth, and we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.

  • A commitment to the mission and values of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, including diversity and inclusion, with experience of addressing issues of educational inequity and disadvantage
  • An experienced manager and leader, with the ability to build diverse teams and support them to do great work; ideally you will have experience of managing remote teams
  • Good commercial and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and develop opportunities and build partnerships
  • An entrepreneurial approach, with experience of taking a programme or organisation to scale
  • A track record of delivering learning experiences and products, ideally focused on young people
  • A passion for — and understanding of — computing education, STEM education, or related subjects; while you don’t need to be a computer scientist or engineer, you will need to be comfortable with this type of content and genuinely interested in learning more
  • Experience and understanding of the Irish education system, ideally with a network across the Irish education, government and technology ecosystem
  • Experience of overseeing professional development or training, ideally including sessions for teachers
  • Good data and analytical skills, and the ability to use data effectively to improve what we do
  • The ability to travel regularly within Ireland and occasionally to the UK.

About us

Established in 2008 and first known for our product — the wildly successful Raspberry Pi computer — the Foundation has developed education programmes, learning experiences, and products that are helping millions of young people learn vital new knowledge and skills.

Through Code Club, we support the world’s largest network of free informal  clubs for young people. Tens of thousands of educators have taken our online courses, and millions of people use our free online learning resources. To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about  and how to create with digital technologies, we conduct academic research, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of  education.

Across all of our work, we work hard to engage young people who come from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in the field of  or who experience educational disadvantage. We work all over the world, with teams based in the UK, Ireland, North America, and India, and partnerships with mission-aligned organisations in over 40 countries. You can learn more about us on our careers page.

We are at the forefront of the global movement to help young people learn about computing and digital making. You can read more about our mission, values, and goals in our Annual Review 2023 and our Strategy 2022–2025.

Benefits

In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a range of benefits for all of our colleagues, including:

  • 23 days’ annual leave initially, growing to 28 days after five years service
  • Company-wide close down for 3 days at the end of the year
  • Generous company pension scheme with 8% employer and 4% employee contributions
  • Private healthcare
  • Life assurance and long-term illness insurance policy
  • Investment in professional development and learning
  • Flexible work hours as needed, to fit around childcare or other commitments
  • Generous family leave policy
  • Cycle-to-work scheme and season ticket loan
