Job description
The Real-World Data team is seeking a Principal-level AI Engineer and Architect. This is an individual contributor role where you will direct the Generative AI Program, leading the design and implementation of its production-grade AI/ML systems—from proof-of-concept through enterprise-scale deployment. The Head AI Architect will be a product-driven, full-stack engineer who collaborates closely with product managers, application architects, and domain experts in data science and clinical data. This role will focus on building scalable AI pipelines, agent-based solutions, foundation model applications, and fine-tuned models tailored to business needs, all in service of advancing our Generative AI capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop AI Agents and Models: Fine-tune and customize LLMs, vision models, and multimodal models and agents to transform end-to-end value chains with AI.
Build Enterprise-Scale AI Solutions: Design scalable and optimized AI/ML pipelines for model development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
Deliver Impactful AI Applications: Lead successful customer deployments and demonstrate high-impact AI applications for specific business use cases.
Cross-Domain Innovation: Create models and agents across domains such as biomedical statistics, clinical data abstraction, and software development.
Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor AI engineers and serve as a thought leader within the organization in your capacity as Head AI Architect.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field with a graduate focus on AI/ML.
Proven experience developing deep learning models in research or production environments.
Strong expertise as a machine learning engineer, software engineer, or research scientist, with depth in at least one area.
In-depth knowledge of standard deep learning algorithms and architectures.
Familiarity with the current ML literature and strong mathematical foundations in ML.
Proficiency in ML best practices, including scalable training, deployment, model evaluation, and introspection.
Hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent.
Advanced programming skills in Python and strong software engineering practices.
Experience with DevOps workflows including version control, CI/CD, and containerization.
At least one peer-reviewed publication.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Machine Learning or a closely related discipline.
Graduate studies or professional experience in the life sciences.
Experience working with biological data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics).
Publications in top-tier AI conferences or journals.
Experience designing and deploying commercial-grade AI/ML systems.
Proven contributions to open-source AI or ML projects.
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
