About the Role

Nebula is looking for an expert communications director to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee external communications involving Nebula, with a focus on publicity and public relations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a broad strategy for internal and external communications across a diverse range of business needs.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has a strong understanding of media communication and messaging. You should have excellent written communication skills and be able to work efficiently to meet tight placement deadlines. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about the creator economy, media and entertainment, and supporting independent creators. Finally, our ideal candidate will also be well-versed in inside communications, ensuring our staff fully understands our mission, values, and goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3-5 years in communications, PR, or publicity for a media company, film studio, or prolific (award-winning) production company.
  • Experience working with digital creators, preferably on ‘per-project‘ campaigns like film or series.
  • Creative and thoughtful view on how new media technologies can be utilized.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to tailor your style to different audiences.
  • Excellent personal network of media outlets and journalists.
  • Familiarity with streaming video, entertainment, and technology.
  • Familiarity with publicizing new original content from creators.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with various levels of leadership within different departments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and drive a multi-channel external communications strategy across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key creators and media outlets.
  • Track engagement across various platforms and make data-driven decisions.
  • Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization. Work with the leadership team and staff to recognize internal communications opportunities and solutions.
  • Develop communication strategies for internal delivery of messaging around company culture, business strategy, and other previously identified opportunities.
  • Assist in the creation of digital, video, audio and print content.
  • Work with finance to create budget for communications team, if and when the department is ready for growth.
