About the Role
KITSCH seeks a driven and skilled Director of Product Development to spearhead Product Strategy and Communication. This role focuses on continuous innovation through Data Analysis, developing Key Metrics, andclearly defining the rationale and target audience for new SKUs.
You’ll be committed to delivering essential, game-changing products that meet daily customer needs. This involves executing the Product Roadmap, ensuring efficient processes, and maintaining exceptional quality. Additionally, the Director will cultivate a culture of leadership and financial accountability, driving success in the Beauty Industry. They will also align cross-functional teams through integrated calendars and timelines, understanding and impacting both DTC and retailer channels.
What will be your responsibilities?
- Product Strategy and Vision
- Develop and maintain a unified product and go-to-market (GTM) asset development calendar, aligning with DTC and retailer deadlines.
- Create a robust three-year portfolio plan in collaboration with sales and e-commerce, outlining product roadmaps, financial forecasts, and market trends.
- Utilize data to guide new developments, determine optimal SKU numbers, and forecast sales thresholds.
- Communicate the “WHY” and “WHO” for new SKUs, providing analysis on growth opportunities.
- Create compelling presentations for retailers, detailing product features and messaging.
- Brand & Messaging Direction
- Provide feedback on existing brand guides and oversee the development of overarching brand messaging and product-specific messaging strategies.
- Product Knowledge and Consumer Education
- Ensure internal teams are trained on new products through quarterly sessions and resources.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of product ingredients and benefits.
- Act as the main point of contact for the Customer Experience (CX) team, responding to consumer inquiries.
- Liaise among product development, marketing, and sales teams to ensure alignment on product information.
- Utilize co-workers for product testing and optimize testing methodologies.
- Product Roadmap Execution and Process Development
- Manage a three-year product roadmap and serve as the main point of contact for product launches.
- Develop briefs and oversee asset creation for e-commerce and retailer channels.
- Evaluate and optimize asset review processes and create cross-departmental education processes.
- Oversee and approve retail pricing and product costs.
- Track sustainability efforts and certifications.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and manage the product development team, overseeing task management and capacity.
- Conduct quarterly employee reviews and promote employee development.
- Report quarterly on staffing needs and facilitate hiring or exits.
What are we looking for in you?
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or related fields.
- Experience
- 10+ years experience in Product Development or related fields.
- Experience in the Beauty Industry.
- Experience in Hair Care or Body Care.
- Required Skills
- Proven track record of driving Business Growth through Product Strategy and Communication.
- Proficiency with the Product Development and Launch Lifecycle, including Roadmapping and Financial Forecasting.
- Experience with Brand Messaging and Positioning.
- Knowledge in Project Management Tools (e.g. Asana, Wrike).
- Experience within the Beauty industry and a strong understanding of Market Trends.
- Data Analysis experience.
