The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Email Marketing Manager to lead the strategy, execution, and growth of our email programs across a portfolio of high-impact newsletters and media brands.

This role sits at the intersection of audience development, acquisition strategy, brand building, and revenue growth. You’ll come on board to help oversee the full lifecycle of our email marketing—from attracting and onboarding new subscribers to deepening engagement and supporting monetization through newsletter sales.

As a senior member of the marketing team, you’ll collaborate with executives, guide junior team members, and partner with content, social, paid, and sales teams to turn email into a high-performance channel for growth and storytelling.

This is a high-visibility, strategic role for a marketing leader who thrives in both creative storytelling and performance optimization.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Own and evolve the overarching email marketing strategy across multiple newsletters and brands.
  • Drive subscriber growth and retention through acquisition, engagement, and lifecycle initiatives.
  • Set and track KPIs across the email funnel to identify trends and optimize performance.

Collaborate with leadership to align email strategy with business goals like monetization and brand expansion.

Oversee campaign execution across the full lifecycle—from onboarding to win-back flows.

Refine segmentation and targeting through A/B testing, behavioral data, and performance insights.

  • Maintain brand integrity by ensuring campaigns meet editorial, voice, and design standards.

  • Manage calendars and workflows to synchronize email efforts with editorial, social, and promo schedules.

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to create integrated, omnichannel campaign strategies.

  • Mentor and manage team members, providing structure, support, and performance feedback.

Who You Are

You’re a seasoned email marketing professional with a proven ability to grow audiences, lead strategic initiatives, and communicate with both creative and business stakeholders. You’re both analytical and imaginative, just as comfortable discussing conversion metrics as you are shaping the story behind a newsletter.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, or newsletter publishing, with a track record of growing audiences and driving measurable impact.
  • Strategic leader and executor, skilled at managing cross-functional initiatives, presenting to stakeholders, and aligning email programs with broader business goals.
  • Expertise in marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, Marketo, or Sailthru, with deep fluency in segmentation, automation, and behavioral targeting.
  • Strong editorial instincts, with proven ability to craft compelling copy, shape narrative flow, and optimize CTAs for engagement and conversions.
  • Well-versed in audience development and email-driven brand building, including experience with community engagement, sponsorship workflows, and monetization strategies.
  • Data- and growth-minded, comfortable using tools like Google Analytics or Looker, and familiar with CDPs, CRM integrations, and emerging paid platforms like Reddit.

Salary Range

We seek to hire top-tier individuals and intend for our compensation to be at a rate that allows us to recruit and retain individuals who align with our core values, purpose, mission, and vision. Final total compensation is based on a multitude of factors including, but not limited to, skill level, relevant experience to the position, and cost of labor.

Annual pay range

$60,000—$85,000 USD
