We strive to be integrated with the Finance strategy so we can realise our vision of being the best company in the world.
About the role:
This role is ideal for someone who is technically curious and passionate about solving problems using financial systems, especially Anaplan. As a Finance Systems Engineer of Anaplan, you’ll support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of financial models that help Canva scale its planning and forecasting capabilities. You’ll work closely with senior engineers and Finance stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver effective Anaplan solutions that are accurate, reliable, and scalable.
You’ll also gain hands-on experience in areas such as data integration, user access management, and model documentation—while learning best practices in model governance and systems design. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to deepen their skills in a high-impact, fast-paced environment and grow into a more strategic technical contributor over time.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the design, maintenance, and enhancement of Anaplan models to enable accurate and scalable financial planning.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and FP&A teams to understand business requirements and translate them into model updates.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving model issues, ensuring data accuracy and model performance.
- Help manage data integration workflows, working with stakeholders to support reliable connections between Anaplan and other systems (e.g. ERP, data warehouse, BI tools).
- Participate in user access management and help implement security best practices in line with IT policies.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of model documentation, including model diagrams and design notes.
- Learn and apply best practices in Anaplan governance, performance optimisation, and model scalability.
- Partner with IT and Finance teams to support ongoing projects, feature rollouts, and improvements aligned with team goals.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in Anaplan model building or supporting financial systems, ideally with hands-on involvement in enhancements, maintenance, and stakeholder collaboration.
- Anaplan Level 3 Model Builder certification, with a commitment to further upskilling.
- Solid understanding of FP&A processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, with the ability to translate business needs into clear technical solutions.
- Familiarity with data integrations, and exposure to systems such as ERPs, data warehouses, or BI tools.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage in technical discussions and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
- A thoughtful and detail-oriented approach to documentation, testing, and system reliability.
