About Tala

Tala is on a mission to unleash the economic power of the Global Majority – the 4 billion people overlooked by existing financial systems. With nearly half a billion dollars raised from equity and debt, we are serving millions of customers across three continents. Tala has been named by the Fortune Impact 20 list, CNBC’s Disruptor 50 five years in a row, CNBC’s World’s Top Fintech Company, Forbes’ Fintech 50 list for eight years running, and Chief’s The New Era of Leadership Award. We are expanding across product offerings, countries and crypto and are looking for people who have an entrepreneurial spirit and are passionate about our mission.

By creating a unique platform that enables lending and other financial services around the globe, people in emerging markets are able to start and expand small businesses, manage day-to-day needs, and pursue their financial goals with confidence. Currently, over nine million people across Kenya, the Philippines, Mexico, and India have used Tala products. Due to our global team, we have a remote-first approach, and also have offices in Santa Monica, CA (HQ); Nairobi, Kenya; Mexico City, Mexico; Manila, the Philippines; and Bangalore, India.

Most Talazens join us because they connect with our mission. If you are energized by the impact you can make at Tala, we’d love to hear from you!

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative FP&A Solutions Architect to join our team and lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of our financial planning and analysis (FP&A) platform, Pigment. This unique role blends deep financial expertise with strong technical acumen, making it ideal for someone who thrives in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in transforming our financial forecasting capabilities, providing valuable insights to drive strategic decision-making.

What You’ll Do

  • Platform Development and Maintenance

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing development of our Pigment platform, ensuring it aligns with our evolving business needs and reporting requirements.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze existing systems, and identify areas for improvement within the platform.

  • Design and build comprehensive financial models within Pigment to forecast revenue, expenses, and other key financial metrics.

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data inputs and outputs within the platform.

  • Architect and implement integration solutions between Pigment and other relevant systems.

  • Forecasting and Analysis

  • Develop and refine forecasting methodologies to improve accuracy and provide actionable insights.

  • Build and refine variance analyses, scenario modeling and other reporting.

  • Utilize data visualization tools to present financial data in a clear and compelling manner.

  • Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the FP&A team and other stakeholders.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and tools that can enhance our FP&A capabilities.

  • Mentor and develop team members on technical aspects of financial modeling and analysis.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure the smooth operation of the Pigment platform.

  • Communication and Collaboration

  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and financial insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data and assumptions for forecasting purposes.

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization to ensure successful solution delivery.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • MBA or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) or a similar role.
  • Proven experience working with Pigment, financial planning software
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with SQL or other data query languages, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling principles, forecasting techniques, and data analysis.
  • Experience in architecting and implementing technology solutions.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and reporting standards preferred
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies is an advantage
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies is nice to have

Our vision is to build a new financial ecosystem where everyone can participate on equal footing and access the tools they need to be financially healthy. We strongly believe that inclusion fosters innovation and we’re proud to have a diverse global team that represents a multitude of backgrounds, cultures, and experience. We hire talented people regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
