This is a 100% remote position with an opportunity to work a hybrid schedule for candidates who live near our global headquarters in Chicago.

About the Role

As the Identity Standards Architect, you will represent Keeper in international identity and security standards bodies such as the FIDO Alliance, W3C, IETF, and NIST. You will participate in working groups, contribute to protocol drafts, and advocate for Keeper’s technical vision while building relationships with the broader identity ecosystem.

Internally, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor and hands-on leader guiding engineering and product teams to implement secure, standards-compliant authentication and access controls. You’ll ensure Keeper’s privileged access solutions remain interoperable, forward-compatible, and influential in shaping the next generation of identity protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Keeper Security in industry standards organizations including FIDO, W3C, IETF, and NIST

  • Participate in working groups, draft reviews, and specification development efforts

  • Build and maintain relationships with identity ecosystem leaders, partners, and contributors

  • Translate evolving identity standards into technical guidance and implementation best practices for Keeper’s developers

  • Partner with engineering to ensure our implementations are secure, standards-aligned, and future-proof

  • Prototype and validate new protocol features (e.g., FIDO2/WebAuthn passkeys, hardware-bound credentials)

  • Provide expertise across key identity protocols including FIDO2, WebAuthn, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and SCIM

  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align roadmaps with emerging standards

  • Present Keeper’s vision and progress at industry events, technical summits, and security conferences

  • Travel to attend working group meetings and conferences (approx. 25–40%)

  • 5+ years of experience in identity standards, security protocols, or federated authentication systems

  • Active participation in one or more identity standards bodies (FIDO Alliance, IETF, W3C, NIST, etc.)

  • Proven contributions to protocol development, specification writing, or working group participation

  • Strong technical understanding of authentication and identity protocols (FIDO2, WebAuthn, OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, SCIM)

  • Experience guiding developers in implementing secure, standards-based authentication systems

  • Ability to write technical documentation and implementation playbooks

  • Proficiency with at least one scripting or prototyping language (Python, JavaScript, Go preferred)

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical and strategic audiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with privileged access and PAM technologies

  • Familiarity with Zero Trust frameworks and identity-centric security architecture

  • Background in SaaS or cloud-native security environments

  • Public speaking experience or conference participation (e.g., Authenticate, Identiverse, IETF meetings)

  • Knowledge of modern identity platforms (e.g., Okta, Azure AD, Entra, Ping)

  • Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, SSCP, GIAC, or FIDO Certified Professional)
