Job Description

Design and develop instructional materials to support online, hybrid, and face-to-face delivery of healthcare courses in a higher education setting. Implement program and course offerings and evaluate their effectiveness. Make suggestions for improvements based on data and analysis.

  • Develop courses within the institution’s designated Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Prepare the components of a course including an overview, syllabus, learning outcomes, course content, proficiency assessments, and interactive activities.
  • Create, publish, and manage eLearning content.
  • Design a variety of instructional materials for traditional instructor-led courses, online programs, web-based learning aids or products, and other programs as needed.
  • Attend curriculum committee meetings and ensure approved changes in curriculum are implemented.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts during planning and implementation phases of course design.
  • Facilitate the use of effective instructional approaches in the design and development of online courses.
  • Assist the team in selecting suitable course materials and ensure that the course design is adhering to established quality standards.
  • Develop instructional and training materials.
  • Operate within a course production framework that is flexible and dynamic to allow for changes in technology, student/faculty expectations, changes to andragogy, new curriculum, maintenance, and improvement.
  • Deliver courses per a program/course development schedule and budget to meet the needs of the institution.
  • Follow a course design model that reflects best practices in the delivery of higher education degree and certificate programs.
  • Actively create and contribute to ongoing documentation, training, and knowledgebases.
  • Write and copy edit content for correct grammar, punctuation, style, and accuracy.
  • Manage rounds of edits and revisions throughout the content development process and be accountable for content quality.
  • Project manage course development from inception to completion and communicate progress to VP.
  • Participate in team planning sessions to implement productive solutions to new technology and functional requirements.
  • Participate, as needed, in the testing and piloting of new educational tools and features of new learning platforms. Make recommendations on applications of these tools.
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends in online instruction andragogy and tools, particularly those related to online copyright issues, accessibility, and the use of open educational resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Business needs may require this position to be a hybrid modality in the future.

The hourly pay range for this position is $30 (minimum), $32.50 (midpoint), and $35 (maximum).*

*Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and/or certificate in instructional design, instructional technology, or a related field of study.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience designing and delivering courses for higher education required.

  • Experience in instructional design and with instructional technology.

  • Experience with multimedia authoring programs.

  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts.

  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models; lesson and curriculum planning skills.

  • Knowledge of course development software and working experience with at least one Learning Management System.

  • Maintain confidentiality of information processed or prepared.

  • Proven project management skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills required.

  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.

  • Ability to easily adapt to and learn new technologies.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.

  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.

  • Four (4) or more years applying learning theory and andragogy to develop online courses.

  • Experience with Canvas Learning Management System.

  • Experience in higher education administration.

  • Experience using and/or supporting accessible technologies; knowledge of online learning regulatory and compliance agency requirements including UDL, ADA, Section 508 compliance, copyright, FERPA, and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to online learning.
