Overview
We are seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer – iOS for a 6-month contract engagement, supporting our client, a global leader in news and business information. This is a senior-level, Spain-based contractor role for an experienced engineer who will lead technical direction, architecture, and delivery of next-generation iOS mobile applications. You’ll be instrumental in modernizing legacy systems, introducing advanced technologies, and enabling teams to meet performance and delivery goals efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Architect and lead mobile technical strategy across multiple product teams.
- Guide and mentor engineers while introducing modern best practices and technologies.
- Translate business requirements into scalable iOS solutions using Swift and SwiftUI.
- Champion initiatives like Cross Knowledge Training to enhance team efficiency.
- Optimize application performance and drive alignment with business milestones.
- Make informed decisions on tooling, infrastructure, and technology adoption.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with both engineering and business stakeholders.
- Own documentation and ensure clarity and accountability in technical decisions.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in iOS native mobile development.
- Deep hands-on experience with Swift and SwiftUI.
- Strong grasp of system design, data structures, and software architecture.
- Proficiency in API design, MVVM, declarative UI, Git, and DevOps tools.
- Familiarity with cloud services, GraphQL, Firebase, and modern mobile frameworks.
- Excellent communication in English and collaboration skills.
- A passion for innovation.
Nice to Have
- Experience leading modernization or migration initiatives preferred.
- Practical experience with in-app purchase flows, user registration and login, and Apple’s Billing Library.
- A background or previous exposure in journalism is a plus.
