Job Overview
Nuvei is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to join its Legal Department in North America to fill a part-time temporary position. This is an excellent opportunity for a law student or recent graduate interest in fintech, payments, commercial contracts, and regulatory law to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a second- or third-year law student with experience in commercial and/or transactional law. The ideal candidate is passionate about fintech and payments, possesses strong writing and communication skills, and entrepreneurial approach to their work. A strong desire for continuous improvement and learning is essential for success in this role. This is an unpaid role. This role is remote. Central or Eastern time is preferred.
Responsibilities
Support the legal team in management of contract lifestyle, review, drafting, and execution.
Conduct legal research on issues related to payment processing, financial regulations, data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and compliance
Support the legal team with document management, tracking regulatory changes, and maintain internal playbooks
Attend internal meetings and help prepare memos, risk summaries, and presentations
Collaborate cross-functionally with Risk, Sales, Finance, and Compliance teams on legal questions and initiatives
Qualifications
Current law student (2L/3L) or recent JD graduate
Demonstrated interest in fintech, financial services, or regulatory law
Strong legal research, writing, and organization skills
Able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
Enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn
Prior internship or work experience in payments, banking, or technology law a plus
