The Dependency Management team is part of the Developer Experience organization at Datadog. Our mission is to automate software lifecycle management across all of Datadog Engineering—ensuring our software supply chain is secure, up to date, and developer-friendly. We build systems and tooling that improve the way engineers at Datadog work, making it easier, faster, and safer to ship software.

As an Manager I, Engineering in Madrid, you’ll lead a small but impactful team of engineers while still staying close to the technical work. You’ll balance people leadership with hands-on contributions—helping design and review systems, guiding architecture decisions, and unblocking your team when needed. You’ll join at a great time to make a big impact, as dependency management is a growing area of investment with many new features ahead.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture—the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a small team of engineers focused on software lifecycle and dependency management.
  • Contribute directly to the codebase through design, reviews, and occasional hands-on development
  • Help drive technical decisions and ensure systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Partner with product managers, TPMs,  security teams, and other engineering orgs to deliver developer-focused tooling.
  • Run lightweight agile processes that keep the team focused and deliver high-quality work.
  • Support your team’s career development and foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Who You Are

  • An experienced engineering leader with a background in backend or infrastructure engineering.
  • Comfortable driving technical direction, architectural decisions, and operational excellence in distributed systems.
  • Passionate about developer experience, with a track record of delivering tools or platforms that make engineers more productive.
  • Skilled at mentoring, coaching, and creating opportunities for engineers to grow.
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and motivated by building a new generation of developer tooling.

Bonus points for:

  • Hands-on experience with Go, Python, or Java.
  • Familiarity with Docker images, including OS base images, language runtime images, and application images—plus experience with image build, deployment, and containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with package managers (npm, pip, cargo, etc.), artifact management, or vulnerability management.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We know not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That’s okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your experience, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits & Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
