Penta Group’s Product Department:
The Penta Product team operates across our US and UK offices, working collaboratively to develop and maintain the data infrastructure, Penta.live platform, and other analytical tools for Penta’s advisory consultants, policy experts, and data analysts. We play a central role in ensuring all of Penta’s intelligence products are reliable, effective, and aligned with user needs. We support both internal teams and clients directly to maximize product value and resolve challenges efficiently.
Our responsibilities span the full product lifecycle, from managing data pipelines and overseeing product performance to designing innovative features using the latest LLM models applied to real-world use cases. We also lead training initiatives to ensure users can confidently navigate and apply our tools, and craft strategic messaging to communicate the value our products deliver. Role Summary:
Penta is looking for a Media Data Director (internally titled Product Director, Data) to lead our data operations and partnerships, playing a central role in the evolution of our product suite. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving how we source, structure, and optimize media data, ensuring it supports the performance and scalability of our products. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across engineering, data science, and advisory to maintain a high-integrity data pipeline that meets both immediate needs and long-term strategic objectives. This role is a great opportunity for an emerging product leader to play an important internal role shaping the data strategy behind the variety of products trusted by our colleagues and clients around the world.
The Media Data Director is expected to:
- Manage our products’ data pipelines by utilizing pipeline monitoring tools and support channels carefully to spot issues before they become problems
- Own and manage projects related to improving data integrity, pipelines, sources, and source management
- Identify new data sources based on their value add to Penta’s market and products, and determine the best way to integrate that data into our product suite by working with engineering
- Become an expert in the platform’s tagging and sentiment scoring system to spot issues and recommend improvements to make tagging more precise and sentiment scoring more accurate and precise
- Support requests for creating new tags and improving existing tags in the platform
- Research and recommend changes to our data partnerships to improve data quality and reduce data acquisition costs
- Maintain tracking of all data costs and contracts, including what data is being ingested from which data providers, their cost, contract terms, renewal timing
- Report usage to copyright licensing bodies and data providers as contractually warranted
- Maintain easy to access documentation for users to know what data we have available
- Support colleagues and clients with ensuring data from our products is used properly, and liaison with the marketing team as needed to promote data-based solutions to solve client challenges
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Analytics, Project Management, or a related field 4+ years of experience in the media industry, preferably in a data focused role
- Experience utilizing Generative AI technologies, where an advanced understanding of techniques such as prompt engineering is preferred
- A strong understanding of the traditional and modern media ecosystem
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate across departments and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- A passion for data-driven decision-making, innovation, and technology
- Experience sourcing, evaluating, and contracting with external data providers, is preferred
- Prior industry experience in Public Relations, or Advertising, is highly preferred
Salary Range:
The base salary range for this position will be $100,000 - $125,000, depending on a candidate’s experience and qualifications as they relate to the position.

Location and Schedule:
This position is for US-based personnel and can be remote or hybrid. However, preference will be given to applicants in Washington, DC and New York City metro areas who can be in-person, in-office, three days per week.
