Job description

Penta Group is a global company providing data-driven solutions to help clients achieve their objectives in an increasingly complex stakeholder environment. We provide cutting-edge intelligence products to help clients understand what their stakeholders think, see, and hear, and then leverage that intelligence to develop and execute effective, measurable strategies.

Our global team brings decades of experience in business, government, communications, research, data science, and media. Our clients include companies across a variety of industries, including technology, financial services, energy, healthcare, and more. Penta has offices in New York, London, Washington, DC, San Francisco, Dublin, London, Brussels, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Role Summary:

Penta’s Intelligence division is hiring interns to support our next-generation news monitoring service that uses both professionals, and technology, to support our clients. This service is designed to inform the decision-making cycle for media engagement and improve planning, feedback, and reporting for public affairs and communications teams. Owned by our Global Monitoring team, the service delivers real-time alerts directly into the inboxes of those engaging and responding to the media every day.

Interns will work with our dedicated media analysts and be trained in the latest media aggregation tools while conducting hands-on analysis to deliver the news and insights clients need to make more informed decisions. This full-time, paid internship, is a fantastic opportunity for candidates interested in media research, insights, and analytics to build foundational skills that will set them up for a successful future career in media relations.

This role is expected to:

- Monitor news and events across outlets and platforms, including print, digital, television, radio, and social media

- Collaborate with a team of analysts to alert the news to clients in a timely and effective manner

- Collect and prepare data to support media analysis

- Assist with long-term research projects

The ideal candidate will have:

- Undergraduate coursework or completed degree in communications, journalism, government, or economics

- Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills in English

- Meticulous attention to detail

- Ability to prioritize multiple, competing priorities

- Experience working in teams with a collaborative mindset

- Interest in the media and the 247 news cycle

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

- Access to working computer with MS Office Suite

- Experience with media monitoring (preferred)

Compensation:

This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime. The hourly pay for this internship will be $20 per hour. Any pre-approved hours worked over 40 hours per week will be paid at time and a half.

Benefits:

- Dynamic and supportive environment for learning and growth

- Access to ongoing training to help develop a strong understanding of the technology and methods used to monitor the news

- Mentoring opportunities and support in the development of long-term career goals

Location, Work Hours, and Remote Schedule:

For this position, we are only considering applicants located in the US state of Hawaii who are able to work remotely 40 hours per week during a morning shift (8 am - 4 pm HST). The duration of this internship is 6 months with an anticipated start date of early-June 2025.
