Job description
PlayOn Sports is seeking a Performance Marketing Manager to support our paid customer acquisition strategy and help drive scalable growth for our streaming subscription business, the NFHS Network. This person will report to the Director of Performance Marketing and play a key role in optimizing and expanding our performance marketing programs, with a focus on data-driven execution, cross-channel innovation, and continuous A/B testing.
We’re looking for someone who thrives on experimentation, brings a sharp analytical mindset, and has hands-on experience managing campaigns across paid social, SEM, video/CTV, and other bid-based media platforms. You’ll help us bring the excitement of high school sports to fans across the country – one click, view, and subscriber at a time.
The OutcomeYou’ll Deliver
-Increase streaming subscriber and revenue growth through new and existing paid channels within budget constraints
In this role, you can expect to
- Manage day-to-day execution of campaigns across paid channels (e.g., paid social, search, video/CTV, and more), optimizing toward acquisition KPIs and efficiency goals.
- Spearhead new ideas and implement A/B tests across creative, audience segmentation, bidding strategies, landing pages, and more to uncover learnings and drive performance.
- Analyze campaign data to identify actionable insights, make performance optimizations, and prepare clear reporting summaries for stakeholders.
- Support media strategy development, working closely with the Director of Performance Marketing to execute campaign builds, monitor budgets, and scale new channel initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, MarTech, and data teams to align creative, messaging, and channel strategies with broader growth objectives.
- Maintain vendor and platform relationships, staying on top of new ad products and emerging opportunities.
- Stay curious and proactive – Research industry trends, test new tools or platforms, and bring forward new ideas to reach and convert high school sports fans.
To thrive in this role, you have
- 4 – 6 years of experience in performance marketing, preferably in a subscription, DTC, or streaming environment.
- Strong hands-on experience managing paid media campaigns across multiple channels (e.g., paid social, search, video/CTV, etc.).
- Deep familiarity with key marketing metrics (e.g., CPA, LTV, Incremental Lift) and the ability to translate them into actionable improvements.
- Proven ability to launch and iterate on A/B tests across creatives, bidding, targeting, and messaging tactics, as well as scale new programs from the ground up.
- Strong Excel/Sheets and data interpretation skills; comfort with marketing and analytics platforms like GA4, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, or Segment.
- A detail-oriented and proactive mindset – you love spotting performance gaps and testing ways to close them.
- A team-oriented spirit and great communication skills – collaborative, curious, and not afraid to ask questions or speak up with new ideas.
- Passion for high school sports!
How You Play
Ownership over Participation- You take responsibility for achieving holistic outcomes, prioritize key objectives, and adapt quickly when situations require a different approach. You follow through even against the toughest challenges.
Team over Stars- You are a bridge builder, establishing processes and relationships with teams outside your own. You work to rally around common goals, find win-win solutions, compromise when necessary, and help others succeed.
Growth over Comfort- You are driven by a desire to grow and actively seek opportunities to expand your comfort zone, skills, and confidence. You embrace new challenges with curiosity, accepting discomfort and failure as opportunities to learn.
Fairness over Popularity- You approach decisions with a scientist’s mindset, challenging your assumptions and remaining objective. You consider long-term impact rather than relying on short-term gains, proactively seek others’ perspectives, and manage emotions in decision-making.
