Job Overview
We’re seeking a Principal Software Engineer who has led, built, and architected large-scale systems—and who wants to stay active in the field. Whether you’re retired, semi-retired, or seeking flexible work on your terms, we’re creating space for high-impact contributors who bring strategic insight and deep technical experience.
You’ll contribute to architectural decisions, critical design reviews, and mentor teammates—all while helping shape a rapidly evolving technical landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate on system architecture and technical planning for distributed, high-performance platforms.
Contribute selectively to projects where your expertise drives clarity and quality.
Serve as a trusted mentor and advisor to engineers across the organization.
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and performance issues.
Share strategic insights on system evolution, security, and infrastructure scale.
Stay current with relevant tools and paradigms in distributed systems and secure development.
20+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on scalable systems and technical leadership.
Proficiency in systems programming (Rust preferred; C++, Go, or similar experience welcome).
Familiarity with parallel computing and performance optimization (OpenMP, CUDA, MPI, etc.).
Demonstrated mentoring and team leadership throughout your career.
Able to work independently and asynchronously in a remote-first environment.
U.S.-based; authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience in HPC or HTC computing environments.
Familiarity with ISO 27001, NIST SP 800-171⁄223, or secure computing standards.
Previous affiliation with a top-tier academic or research institution.
Interest in mentoring rising engineers and passing on technical wisdom.
